We are hiring a Director of Payments Product Engineering to help us scale our payments platform to support the next stage of Guild's growth.

We are looking for an experienced director who has a passion for building well-crafted B2B facing products and systems with an emphasis on multi-sided marketplace payment solutions. This role will lead the teams of engineers who build and maintain our payments platform. The platform applies payment policies to a variety of transactions between our partners and in service of our members. It provides rigorous accounting and reporting for all parties. The role will regularly work with a diverse group of partners; from peers in engineering, product, and design to leaders in the operations, marketing, student and partner management teams, and sales organizations. We are looking for a leader who is excited to direct multiple teams building solutions that serve Guild internal users and partners while taking into account inputs and needs of all of the different aspects of our marketplace and user personas.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Build trust of Guild stakeholders and a reputation for dependability.
  • Communicate strategies and execution plans to achieve meaningful positive outcomes.
  • Drive change to improve our ability to reliably and efficiently deliver value.
  • Lead and develop a diverse team of leaders and engineers.
  • Measure the performance of the payments platform in terms of outcomes.
  • Take accountability for accuracy, timeliness, efficiency, reliability, and flexibility of the payments platform.
  • Respond to problems and incidents.
  • Take accountability for compliance within our systems and processes.
  • Contribute to the development of our broader Guild Engineering capabilities.
  • Collaborate to ensure optimal allocation of resources from a Guild-wide perspective.

Functional Competencies:

Must demonstrate proficiency in:

  • Contemporary software development principles, architecture, and coding practices.
  • Large-scale, multi-tenant, B2B, SaaS system design and development.
  • Concise written and verbal communication of complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Leading and motivating software engineering teams by setting clear objectives, and driving innovation.
  • Development and execution of strategic roadmaps for software development in pursuit of business outcomes.
  • Project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Kanban, etc.) to ensure efficient and timely outcomes.
  • Recruiting and developing top engineering talent.
  • Analyzing complex problems and overcoming obstacles in software development.
  • Ensuring software quality through effective QA processes, testing methodologies, industry standards, compliance, and security protocols.
  • Building influence through relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Resource allocation in software development projects.
  • Initiating and leading change.
  • Identifying potential risks in projects and implementing strategies to mitigate them.

We feel passionately about equal pay for equal work, and transparency in compensation is one vehicle to achieve that. Total compensation for this role is market competitive, including a base salary range of $235,000 - $261,250, as well as company stock options.
