Job Description This position is for undergraduate Stevens students currently enrolled (preference given to sophomore and junior students). Must have at least 6 credits. The mission of the Intercultural Space is to empower Stevens students to create a thriving and inclusive community by cultivating a supportive space for underrepresented students and their allies on campus to foster an understanding of diversity and inclusion. The creation of the Intercultural Space was spearheaded by student leaders, who called for “a space for dialogue on the topics of diversity, inclusion, and intersectionality on campus”. Housing the Diversity Lending Library, a relaxation corner, and student art, this space is both for programming as well as a student lounge. The Intercultural Space Coordinator is a student work study position in the Office of Student Culture and Belonging and reports directly to the Office of Student Culture and Belonging Coordinator. The Intercultural Space Coordinator is charged with chairing the Student Advisory Committee, maintaining the Intercultural Space Instagram account, advertising programs, managing the resources offered in the space, and acting as a student ambassador. This position encourages professional and personal development through constructive feedback, facilitation training, and leadership opportunities. Responsibilities: Coordinate the daily operations, advertise multicultural organization events and recruiting participants to the Intercultural Space Contribute to the development of marketing materials and social media content to promote activities and resources Represent the Office of Student Culture and Belonging at campus events, meetings, and gatherings as needed Develop cultural events aligned with the mission of the Intercultural Space, ensuring student belongingness Chair the Intercultural Space Student Advisory Committee Maintain resources, update inventory and tidy the Intercultural Space Increase followers and engagement with the Intercultural Space Instagram account Maintain the Diversity Lending Library Work collaboratively with other interns and staff Foster collaborative relationships with cultural and identity-based organizations Meet regularly with supervisor and staff Identify and explore opportunities to initiate projects that prioritize and celebrate the intercultural space Develop and implement programs, initiatives, and campaigns aimed at addressing student concerns and promoting positive change through advocacy efforts Foster a culture of inclusivity, empowerment, and social justice within the campus community through advocacy and activism Other duties as assigned Department Diversity Education General Submission Guidelines: Please submit an online application to be considered a candidate for any job at Stevens.
