Department Overview

Electric Asset Management (EAM) is responsible for the electric system engineering and planning, asset strategy, and risk management across transmission, distribution, and substation asset families. The team leverages a data-driven, standards-based and risk-informed approach to manage electric asset and system health, capacity, and performance. The organization is accountable for asset planning and strategy, standards and work methods, and asset data management for Electric.

As part of the EAM team, the Asset Knowledge Management (AKM) organization is responsible for the guiding the acquisition, management, quality, and access of PG&E’s electric asset data. The team’s objective is to maximize the use of and ensure the trustworthiness of PG&E’s critical electric data assets and includes the development of analytic and situational intelligence tools that leverage this critical data.

Position Summary

The Expert Program Manager will be responsible for managing day-to-day functions of the Remote Sensing program – a critical program designed to effectively collect and provision Remote Sensing data (e.g., LiDAR and LiDAR-derived data, satellite imagery, high-resolution oblique and orthographic imagery, etc) required to support EAM’s strategic objectives. The team partners with internal operations (e.g., Land Management, Aviation Services) and vendors to provide remote sensing data, derivative data products and analytic services to our clients to enable regulatory compliance, risk quantification, hazard identification, asset detection and attribution and advanced analytics.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and Oakland based on business needs.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

A reasonable salary range is:​

Bay Area Minimum: $​122,000

Bay Area Maximum: $​194,000

Program Objectives

  • Collecting and provisioning of Remote Sensing data to address the Electric Asset Management team’s highest priority uses
  • Ensuring Remote Sensing data is trusted, fit-for-purpose and adherent to standards
  • Guiding development of Remote Sensing data architecture to support broad access and use of the data
  • Providing timely and accurate insights to client teams through Remote Sensing-based analytics
  • Identifying opportunities to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to reduce the cost of LiDAR data collection and/or identify alternative, lower cost solutions
  • Evaluate and catalog vendors’ Remote Sensing capabilities to assess fit with client needs

Job Responsibilities

  • Establish annual and long-term program objectives in alignment with the company’s True North Strategy
  • Develop, track and report Key Performance Indicators to facilitate progress reporting to senior management
  • Establish structure for the program to manage day-to-day Remote Sensing workflows (e.g., data collections, data processing, analytic product delivery, budget management, and task management)
  • Define program workflows and processes, where work can be standardized; identify and drive improvements to processes and program management workflows
  • Establish strong partnerships with key internal stakeholders (e.g., Land Management, Aviation Services, Vegetation Management) to facilitate cross-functional coordination of data collection
  • Manage updates to LiDAR and imagery acquisition standards and governance
  • Organize and guide systematic evaluation of vendor technology capabilities

Qualifications

Minimum

  • B.A./B.S. degree or equivalent work experience in computer science, information technology, business administration, engineering, or other relevant field required
  • 8 years of experience in job-related roles including electric asset management or operations, data management, operational data analysis, product development, program management, and/or strategy planning or other related area 

Desired

  • 4 years of cross-functional leadership experience
  • Experience implementing Program Management concepts and frameworks
  • PMP Certification
  • Professional experience working within regulated utility operations or asset management funciton
  • Deep familiarity with ESRI GIS systems/platforms and LiDAR, aerial imagery and land survey concepts
  • Exposure to Lean Operating System program/project management
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills with proven ability to establish and cultivate relationships with vendors and business SMEs.
  • Demonstrated executive engagement and presentation skills.
