NATIONAL BOARD FOR CERTIFIED COUNSELORS INC is Hiring a Director of State Licensure Operations Near Greensboro, NC

Job Summary:

The Director of State Licensure Operations provides high-level support to the Center for Credentialing & Education’s (CCE) customer service team, educational review applications, examination registrations, Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Examination (CPCE) program, and score verification processes for all our regulatory clients. The Director is required to use a wide degree of creativity and latitude in daily decision-making, thereby relieving the Vice President of CCE of administrative functions. This position is also responsible for aiding the Vice President in formulating and administering organization policies, improving the efficiency of employees, and ensuring increased levels of client satisfaction. The position requires a high degree of confidentiality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the organizational processes of all aspects of State Agency Services to ensure all areas are functioning effectively and efficiently.
  • Oversees the educational equivalency review services for our regulatory clients.
  • Analyzes operations to evaluate performance of staff in meeting objectives or to determine areas of potential cost reduction, program improvement, or policy change.
  • Assists the board in developing and maintaining a long-range strategy that achieves its mission to make consistent and timely progress.
  • Maintains knowledge of state services processes.
  • Directs, plans, and implements policies, objectives, and activities to maximize efficiency.
  • Researches state boards' policies and processes to establish and refine best practices.
  • Provides weekly status updates to the Vice President of CCE regarding operations of the areas.
  • Presents at conferences regarding the state agency services.
  • Travels for business as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Assists in interviewing and training employees.
  • Plays a key role in planning, assigning, and directing work in State Agency Services.
  • Addresses complaints and resolves problems.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Prioritization – Ability to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work in a timely manner. Ability to proactively manage and prioritize projects and activities with firm deadlines. Ability to work effectively in a team setting and independently on concurrent processes and projects to meet established goals, deadlines, and quality standards.
  • Problem Solving/Analysis – Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to see an issue and use objective analysis and evaluation in order to form a judgment.
  • Communication Ability to listen to others, process information, and communicate effectively in oral and written formats, including knowledge of the structure and content of the English language.
  • Leadership – Ability to encourage, instill trust, provide direction, and delegate responsibility. Willingness to lead, take charge, and offer opinions and direction. Ability to cultivate individual talent and successfully motivate others. Demonstrate support for innovation and changes needed to improve organizational effectiveness.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Master’s degree required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience required. Must have experience managing multiple areas in a department.

Preferred Education/Experience:

  •  5 years of related experience and/or training preferred.

Work Location:

  • Hybrid: Primarily onsite with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office.

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 20% travel

Essential Physical Demands:

  • Sedentaryworkthatprimarilyinvolves sitting.
  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers such as simple grasping, keyboarding, or fine manipulation.
