PRIMARY FUNCTION/PURPOSE:

Residential Aides (RA) will provide direct services to the HRA/HASA clients. Residential Aide’s work tasks include but not limited to monitoring for safety, documenting, assisting with unit turnovers, conducting unit inspections, and ensuring compliance with EHPMP rules and regulations. The EHPMP RA is a security professional responsible for monitoring clients and ensuring the safety within the facility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs hourly inspections of the facility as well as routine and random inspections of bed areas and lockers and wellness checks.
  • Ensure the safety of all residents and staff.
  • Orients new intakes and assist with room assignment.
  • Document all residents, staff and visitors entering and exiting the building; complete census forms, report all incidents, and log all events in the Daily Registration Log.
  • Assists in the turnover of shelter beds and ensures readiness for occupancy by new clients as directed.
  • Informs appropriate program staff of any issues that may affect the health and safety of clients or staff.
  • Record all daily census reports.
  • Creates and submits shift reports at the end of ever shift.
  • File all paperwork relating to shift coverage.
  • Provide a professional greeting to all visitors and callers.
  • Generate and submit all incident reports, which include detailed information of the incident and names of the first responders (i.e., police, ambulance, fire department, ACS, political parties, news). Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities.
  • Maintains the organization’s stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements.
  • Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property, monitoring surveillance equipment, and access points.
  • Reports any security breaches, incidents, and other alarming behavior.
  • Ensure the lobby and front of the building is always cleared.
  • Prevent loitering in all areas within and surrounding the building.
  • Assist with fire drills/emergency evacuations and generates documentation as required.
  • Maintain the security of the facility.
  • Distribute mail to staff and clients.
  • Enforce the curfew regulation as directed.
  • Implements all programmatic needs as necessary and outlined by the Director and Funding Sources.
  • Attends staff meetings, case conferences, supervisory and in-service training sessions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the RA Manager Program and/or Program Director.

POSITION SCOPE: Responsible for providing safety and general support to assigned program in various department or division.

PROBLEM-SOLVING: Problems encountered by the incumbent are straightforward and can usually be resolved using common sense or through supervisory guidance.

KNOWLEDGE: Job duties requirea general familiarity with Bronx Parent Housing Network Association programs, services, and operations.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY: Makes routine, relatively low-cost expenditures, as delegated by supervisor.

CONTACTS: Incumbent works primarily with Program Director; external contacts are frequent and limited in scope.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent or the equivalent combination of education and experience. High School Diploma/ GED

Certifications Required: (F-02) NYC Fire Guard for Shelters (MUST be completed within the first month of hiring.)

Additional certifications: NYS Security License, Eight and Sixteen Hour. NYC Fire Safety Coordinator (F24), First Aid and CPR Certificate.

Experience: 1 to 2 years of progressively responsible professional work experience in a social services agency required. Direct client/participant services preferred.

Related Skills or Knowledge: Computer literacy-skills in Microsoft Suite. Good writing and communication skills.
