Title: Traveling Superintendent

Location: Indianapolis, IN

Duration: Fulltime

Job Summary

The Superintendent performs tasks managing people, inventory and equipment involved in construction projects. The position will lead and inspire the crew, see the overall picture, and direct the various crew members on their daily role as the project comes together. The superintendent will lead the talk at the beginning and end of each day and have one-on-one talks with other group leaders about the people they lead and what tasks are needed to complete. The superintendent is tasked with holding crew members responsible when work is not completed.

Essential Functions

  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Supervises all activities and tasks by effectively communicating with the site Project Manager, Project Coordinator, and Project Engineer.
  • Oversees daily scheduling and labor allocation.
  • Drafts and Reviews Daily construction status reports with the management team by collecting and documenting information from the other members of the site and sending the report to the Project Manager.
  • Communicates critical and time sensitive project information to the site Project Manager by being consistently present on the work site and walking units daily.
  • Coordinates the procurement of materials, supplies, equipment, and outside services to meet project needs.
  • Performs quality control duties for all work-in-progress and finished products by completing punch list.
  • Monitors and evaluates subcontractor compliance with commitments, safety, site, and company policies.
  • Presides over weekly team and/or subcontractor meetings designed to coordinate and communicate project progress, changes, and identify conflicts.
  • Ensures that the site is always kept in a clean, safe, secured, and organized fashion.
  • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Support company initiatives and implement strategic initiatives and opportunities as they arise.

Competencies

  • The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for an employee to perform each essential duty of this position successfully.
  • Five or more years of construction experience, preferably in multi-family construction projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of how a basic construction site works.
  • High School diploma required.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and strong ability to prioritize and organize workflow activities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in computer programs such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondences.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to understand basic mathematical and statistical concepts.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Flexibility with work schedule and location.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
