This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program. The person in this position will represent International SOS and provide the services outlined below.
VAMC primary care nurse practitioner shall cover the range of Family Practice services as would be provided in a state-of-the-art civilian medical treatment facility and the standard of care shall be of a quality, meeting or exceeding currently recognized national standards.
B. Key Responsibilities (Critical responsibilities and skills of this position, listed in order of importance)
· Clinic appointments and follow-up of labs/imaging/procedures ordered during these appointments, interpretation, phone call consultation from hospitalists and intensivists on inpatients, and availability for case review with nurse practitioners on service.
· Clinic Responsibilities: personnel shall be present and on time for clinic start times as documented by physical presence in the clinic at the scheduled start time.
· Communication of Test Results: Mechanisms must be in-place to provide notification of test results for patients receiving care in accordance with VHA Directive 1088, Communicating Test Results to Providers and Patients.
· Medications: Contract personnel shall follow all established medication policies and procedures. No sample medications shall be provided to patients.
· Discharge education: Provide discharge education and follow up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all emergency department patients.
· Approximately 5% of time will be spent on various administrative tasks, reports, emails, etc.
· Clinic or Operating Room (OR) Schedule: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch
· Care coverage will be provided at 80 hours every 2 weeks
· Off hour coverage is not currently required but scheduling is subject to change.
· Other duties as assigned by International SOS and Fayetteville VAMC
