OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:

The Human Resources Generalist is an integral part of the Human Resources team and serves as a first line contact for team members and managers within the business. They will provide support to all departments and escalate any issues to the head of Human Resources or the HR Business Partners. The position forms positive, supportive and collaborative working relationships throughout the organization to deliver value-added service to team members and management that reflect the business objectives of the organization.

This position requires an extremely perceptive person who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization. The generalist must be sensitive to corporate needs, employee goodwill and the business needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Benefits and Leave Administration

* Manage the Leave of Absence (LOA) process including coordination and administration of all leave types

* Team member point of contact for all LOA inquiries/requests

* Advise, administer, and monitor LOA eligibility, processes and procedures including impact to benefits and return to work providing communication to internal groups as appropriate

* Ensure proper designation of leaves and responses are within required timeframes

* Partner with management during the interactive process to provide reasonable accommodations to employees in need

* Educate team members and managers on available LOA programs

* Track and report on leaves for management as required/requested

* Keep abreast of new and/or changing leave laws as they relate to company operations; recommend updates/revisions to policies, procedures, templates, and forms

* Manage team member benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, EAP, cafeteria plan, 401(k), and short/long term disability plans for new hires, life events, and annual open enrollment

* Communicate company-wide benefits information and changes

* Coordinate benefits processing, handling enrollments, LOA, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability claims, and compliance testing

* Implement and administer team member policies and procedures; assist with policy and handbook updates

Human Resources Compliance

* Pull accurate reporting from HRIS and submit for various HR compliance, including, but not limited to EEO-1, Affirmative Action Plan, VETS

* Respond to SOX audit requests

* Ensures HRIS data is accurate by performing audits of the system

General Human Resources

* Engage in and/or may lead HR projects

* Respond to verification of employment requests

* Under the direction and collaboration with the Human Resources team, ensure the Team member Intranet information is always up to date and relevant

* Collect and analyze HR data in order to make recommendations to management; recommends innovative approaches, policies, and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed

* Administer human resources policies and procedures according to company standards

* Provide guidance and service to management on daily team member relations and performance management issues

* Conduct administrative tasks including, but not limited to ordering of business cards, running ad hoc reporting, creating PPT presentations.

* Support the HR department in implementing programs to help improve the team member experience

* Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems

* Coordinate and effectively communicate company events such as company picnic, holiday party, employee community events

COMPETENCY OR POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

* At least two years of Human Resources experience working in a mid-size company

* B.S. in Human Resources, Management, Marketing, or related field

* Proficient computer skills including MS Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)

REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS:

This role shall comply, at a minimum, with the responsibilities and qualifications outlined in:

* CLIA: Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) Requirements, Title 42 Code of Federal Regulations Part 493

* CAP: College of American Pathologists (CAP): All Common, General, Director Responsibility and Authority and all test-specific checklists

* NYS CLEP: New York State Department of Health, Clinical Laboratory Evaluation Program (CLEP), New York State Public Health Law, Article 5 Title 5

* ISO: International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 13485, Quality Management Systems, Requirements for Regulatory Purposes, 2016

* All other applicable state and regulatory governing authorities including but not limited to: CA, PA, RI, MD
