POSITION SUMMARY:

This is a great opportunity for a hands-on financial professional with strong accounting and managerial skills to lead a non-profit community to fulfill its mission and vision. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Controller is responsible for the oversight, leadership, organization, and implementation of the day-to-day financial operations for a $70 million budget. This position will also lead an outstanding team of four. S(he) will also be responsible for the policies, procedures, processes and controls that will ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulations resulting in sound financial management and healthiness. The ideal candidate will be self-driven, motivated, curious, methodical, innovative, witty, flexible, and the ability to catch on quickly.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Manage the day-to-day financial operations to include accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, purchasing, cash management, general ledger accounting, and financial reporting functions.
• Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close, balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to provide strategic financial guidance.
• Interpret, develop, implement and ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulation, policies, and government regulations.
• Assures the integrity of financial and statistical data and provides direction for complex report and analysis content.
• Manage the annual audit process and coordinate with external auditors.
• Oversee all financial, project/program and grants accounting; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period; collate financial reporting materials for government, corporate, and foundation grants.
• Support the CFO in engaging the board’s audit and finance committees around issues and trends in financial operating models and delivery.
• Work in collaboration with COO to assess the financial efficacy of program operations and establish finance and administrative systems to support program operations.
• Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines.
• Provides exemplary customer service to internal customers and works collaboratively to meet their operating goals.
• Manage and mentor the finance team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
• Collaborate with other departments to provide financial analysis and support for business decisions.
• Identify and mitigate financial risks and opportunities for the Y.
• Lead special projects and initiatives as needed.
