Job Status: Full-Time Regular

FLSA Status: Exempt
Pay Range: $62,500 – $74,500
Location: 376 Western Ave. N., Saint Paul, MN 55103
Physical Setting: Administrative Offices/Emergency Shelter/Transitional Housing Environment
Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities (UGMTC) provides life transforming pathways for all people experiencing hunger, homelessness and addiction. We are a 501(c)(3) organization.
The Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities Development Advisor team is dedicated to the identification, cultivation, and engagement of major donors to secure major gifts. To do this, the team must work cooperatively and collaboratively with the UGMTC’s Donor Services, Accounting, and Programs.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, the Grant and Development Advisor is primarily responsible for raising funds from foundations and corporations to support the efforts of UGMTC by identifying, researching, developing and responding to public and private grant opportunities. This includes collecting, analyzing, reporting, and persuasively communicating data on the performance of UGMTC program activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • At the direction of the Director of Development, conducts assigned work in alignment with UGMTC’s mission, vision and values.
  • Manages Portfolio of 125 major gift donors that includes $3000 or more annually.
  • Maintain a foundation and corporate donor and prospect work plan, including specific fundraising and cultivation goals for long-term, lapsed, and new major donors.
  • Develops proposals, concept information, letters of inquiry, and reports describing a variety of initiatives for private and corporate foundations.
  • Coordinates with program and development staff to review and approve proposals, reports, and proposal budgets.
  • Works with program and accounting staff to prepare financial information, including budgets and financial reports.
  • Synthesizes complex or diverse information; collects and researches data; designs workflows and procedures.
  • Maintains accurate and timely records of all donors and donor prospect interactions in database.
  • Speaks clearly and persuasively in all interactions, representing the mission, vision and values of UGMCT.
  • Writes clearly and informatively; varies writing style to meet needs; presents numerical data effectively.
  • Conducts research to supplement proposal packages with complementary materials.
  • Manages prospect research to identify funding needs and develops strategies for cultivation of foundations and for marketing programs and proposals to the foundation community.
  • Identifies and selects appropriate potential donors.
  • Research grant-making organizations, including government agencies, and analyze grant criteria to identify whether to pursue the grant application for specific projects and programs.
  • Monitors and tracks grant application deadlines and follows up on submitted applications.
  • Serves as the bridge between UGMTC and the grant provider, transforming UGMTC concepts into a project that the funding institution will support.
  • Maintains co-operative relationships and communication with other departments to ensure access and positive experiences for UGMTC residents and support achievement of program objectives.
  • Represents the values and ethics of UGMTC when interacting with donors, residents, staff, guests, visitors, and the community and foundations. Values include faith, compassion, respect, integrity, and excellence.
  • Responds to questions regarding UGMTC’s mission, programs, and services.
  • Participates in UGMTC-sponsored spiritual enrichment activities, including staff prayer and devotions
  • At any time, with or without notice, perform other duties and activities as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 3 years of development and grant writing experience
  • Experience in human services preferred
  • Non-profit experience preferred
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including day and evening shifts
  • Experience or desire to work with underserved communities and people experiencing homelessness or poverty
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative information to identify trends, issues, and opportunities.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Software, Salesforce, UGMTC’s Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) system, and other business-related software and applications.

  • Has a heart of compassion and caring toward the homeless and hurting and is passionate about ministering life transformation in a multi-cultural urban ministry setting.
  • Ability to build and maintain a direct relationship with community leaders and donors who can translate the needs of UGMTC to gain support.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively one-on-one and in group settings with a wide range of constituencies in a culturally diverse community.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
  • Work is performed in a typical interior/office within an emergency shelter/transitional housing environment with occasional outside work required.
  • Must be able to lift 10-15 lbs.
