To meet the needs of the company’s growth, Vartega is seeking a Senior Finance Professional that complements the company’s established culture and possesses the skills required to manage the company’s day-to-day finances. The Vartega Controller will be a CPA who reports to the CFO and will own and manage the company’s financial and accounting systems.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Implementing and owning the accounting and finance infrastructure required for the successful execution of the company’s accounting, budgeting, transaction monitoring, data analytics, and financial reporting activities.
  • Identifying and implementing systems required for monitoring, reporting, analyzing and controlling the company’s accounting activities according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Identifying and implementing systems required for managing grant project finances and complying with applicable local, State, and Federal regulations (e.g. 2 CFR 200.302).
  • Implementing analytical tools for financial planning and analysis, including cost accounting, revenue projections, profitability forecasting, and project profitability.
  • Overseeing a 120-day rolling cash forecast and advising the leadership team of potential shortfalls.
  • Managing all debt financing activities. Supporting the leadership team in identifying and executing new financing instruments for asset or operational requirements.
  • Preparing content for monthly leadership meetings.
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for submission to the CEO.
  • Preparing monthly gross margin reports for production activities
  • Fulfilling tax reporting obligations and producing quarterly and annual tax returns with Vartega’s tax accountant.
  • Coordinating with Vartega’s tax accountant to leverage R&D tax credits, Enterprise Zone tax credits, and other tax credits as applicable.
  • Draft, review, and comply with Company’s financial and accounting policies. 
  • Managing the Company’s annual financial audit.
  • Engaging with the vision, mission, and values of Vartega and emulating this culture within the company’s work environment.
  • Supporting and engaging in the personal and professional development of the company’s employees through training on accounting and finance processes and strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of financial management and general accounting experience.
  • CPA designation (current preferred, inactive acceptable).
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
  • Experience with early-stage companies and/or manufacturing.
  • Demonstration of the development of written accounting policies and procedures.
  • Management of an annual financial audit.
  • Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Proven leadership and team management experience.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word and other Microsoft products.
  • Proficient in Quickbooks.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace.
