Description

The Level 2 analyst will be responsible for planning and performing the daily analysis of multiple sample types. She/he will also be responsible for generating and monitoring a daily aging list. The analyst will be responsible for entering data and correcting data entry errors. The Level 2 analyst will evaluate quality control data and may approve sample data. 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Analytical: 

• Preparing reagents
• Documenting chemicals and reagents used
• Setting up and analyzing multiple sample types
• Evaluating quality control data and approving sample data
• Daily instrument maintenance
• Generating and monitoring daily aging list
• Verifying balances
• Tracking samples and traceability
• Daily calibrations and analysis
• Preparing sample extracts.

Assessment: 

• Performing initial demonstration of capability and ongoing demonstration of capability
• Evaluating and approving method and analytical batch QC
• Reading training materials and completing questions
• Attending training sessions
• Verifying media and batch QC
• Maintaining and reviewing control charts associated with analysis
• Archiving data in databases
• Attending training sessions

Reporting: 

• Transferring data to VERT, LIMS, Element, ELN and other systems
• Sending batches to report for verification
• Ensuring data integrity

Requirements

Education and Training: 

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher (preferably in scientific discipline)

Knowledge and skills: 

• Advanced laboratory skills
• Basic computer knowledge
• Advanced data analysis using Excel or similar program
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills
• Ability to lead
• Service oriented attitude
• Self-motivated
• Able to maintain focus on key objectives

Experience: 

• Experience as Level 1 analyst or 2 years’ experience in laboratory setting

Physical Requirements:

• Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms and shoulders repetitively to operate a keyboard and other office equipment
• Ability to speak and hear well enough to communicate clearly and understandably with sufficient volume to ensure accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance, over the phone and in group setting
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time as necessary in the laboratory (6 or more hours)
• Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 15 pounds
• Physical dexterity sufficient to move body frequently around laboratory equipment and instrumentation
• Ability to continuously operate a personal computer for extended periods of time (2 or more hours)
• Mental acuity sufficient to collect and interpret data, evaluate reason, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, make valid judgement and decisions
