Title: Unit Clerk / Ward Clerk

Starting hourly rate: $21.43

Candidate must be a dynamic, energetic individual a real people person. Functions to provide clerical and secretarial tasks on a nursing home unit.

Primary Duties:

• Basic administrative office functions; filing & data entry
• Schedule outside and in-house appointments 
• Notifies residents and next of kin of appointment dates 
• Arranges Transportation for outgoing appointments 
• Answers telephones, takes messages, provides information, or relays calls to appropriate staff
• Participates in maintaining complete and accurate patient medical charts
• Maintains effective and timely communication with nurses, patients, families and other staff
• Demonstrates awareness of and sensitivity to patients’ rights and maintains patient confidentiality
• Maintain a clean and clutter free nurses station
• Communicate any problems or concerns to the Nursing Manager in a timely fashion
• Helps to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff

Requirements:

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Pleasant phone manner & strong computer skills
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to multitask in high-pressure environment
• Experience as a Ward Clerk/Unit Clerk in Long-term care
• Friendly, team oriented, positive, energetic, dependable and hard working
