FinRegLab is Hiring a Senior Business Operations Manager Near Washington, DC

FinRegLab is a nonprofit innovation center that tests new technologies and data to inform public policy and drive the financial sector toward a responsible and inclusive financial marketplace. FinRegLab (FRL) is seeking a detail-oriented, passionate, and disciplined Senior Business Operations Manager with a strong work ethic and ability to learn quickly, who is able to translate vision and ideas into action and results. The Senior Business Operations Manager will consistently have an eye on the needs of the organization and be looking for ways to improve the internal operations. They can work independently and also in partnership with vendors to execute and drive toward organizational excellence. 

Reporting to the CEO, theSenior Business Operations Manager will be a connector, championing cross-functional collaboration and creativity, and will oversee the organization’s internal operations, including finance/accounting, IT, HR/Talent, facilities, legal/contracts/compliance, business planning, and development/grants administration functions. They will also provide Board management support to the CEO. 

Core Responsibilities

Business Infrastructure Oversight

  • Manage financial management services vendor(s) and serve as a liaison between them and organizational Leadership

  • Manage, review and approve payroll

  • Manage Accounts Payable, bank accounts, and credit cards 

  • Manage IT Managed Service Provider vendor and serve as a liaison between them and organizational Leadership

  • Provide administration of organization-wide software tools and training for staff

  • Oversee facilities and office operations and administration

  • Oversee compliance, legal and contracts

  • Manage internal communications and events for staff

  • Lead strategic and business planning processes for the organization

  • Design FinRegLab’s approach for using financial and operational metrics and look-back activities

Talent and HR Management

  • Manage PEO vendor and serve as a liaison between them and organizational Leadership

  • Develop, execute and continually refresh a talent and HR strategy

  • Manage the organization’s employment life-cycle processes with the goal of recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce

  • Deploy annual open enrollment, manage HR policies and maintain FinRegLab’s Employee Handbook

  • Conduct employee and intern recruiting, onboarding and offboarding

  • Manage updates to total rewards approach for employee compensation, including updates to salary bands

  • Manage performance management cycle

  • Design and execute DEIB strategy and roadmap

  • Design and implement approach for staff learning, effectiveness and professional development

Development and Grant Administration

  • Lead the development, improvement and use of fundraising systems and tools (eg. CRM) for pipeline management and contact database

  • Project manage applications for grants, collaborating with internal and external partners to ensure timely and accurate submission and reporting.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective systems and project management for grants management and reporting in conjunction with program staff and coordinate with operations personnel about financial components of the reports

  • Develop and maintain development and grants calendars

Board Support

  • Lead the process for producing the Board meeting agenda and materials, including supporting executives in the development of the Board memo, compiling and editing materials, and supporting internal staff with deadlines

  • Handle meeting scheduling and logistics for in-person and virtual meetings, in collaboration with the host venue

  • Draft pre- and post-meeting communications, meeting decks, and formal Board updates.

  • Manage and organize Board files and documents

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Understanding of and passion for the organization’s mission, vision, and values.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.

  • 7 years of relevant operations experience

  • Excellent written language and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • The ability to balance, prioritize, and manage competing demands and be flexible to support the team's outcomes

  • Ability to work both independently and collaborate as part of a larger team.

  • Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of pipeline management, grant application portals and grant & contract reporting

  • Experience with Client Relationship Management (CRM) systems

Benefits

Location, Salary and Benefits

This position is based in Washington, D.C. and in line with our work hours and location guidelines for hybrid work, the person will come into the office a minimum of 3 days a week.

Compensation will be commensurate with the overall experience level of successful applicants. Offers will include a competitive benefits package.
