Job Description
JOB LOCATION: Atlanta, GA
POSITION: Senior Mechanical Engineer
POSITION: Prepare and review mechanical calculations for loads and prepare one-line diagrams; Edit specifications to reflect the project requirements; Develop equipment room sizes; Select and schedule advanced equipment and analysis like chillers, boilers, air terminals, cooling towers, air valves, HEPA filters, DX equipment, and water source heat pumps, etc.; Respond to RFI's for the project, and review submittals; Apply risk management procedures to minimize exposure to problems; Develop, manage and monitor work plans and deliverables in conjunction with other PMs on multiple projects within budgeted hours; Understand proper scope of SD, DD, CD level documents, edit and develop scope of work narratives (SD narrative, basis of design, etc.), and deliver appropriate documentation; Write studies and reports for systems on projects; Work with PC, PM, and Clients to meet scheduled project milestones of multiple projects; Provide QA/QC reviews of calculations by designers, and determine content of drawings and specs for Designers to meet the scope of work and review code related items with Designers, and ensure compliance. 20% domestic travel required. 50% telecommuting allowed; must live within normal commuting distance of Atlanta, GA.
REQUIREMENTS : Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field or foreign equivalent degree plus 5 years of related experience. Prior experience must include: Perform technical reviews and check for technical accuracy and quality of deliverables for Transportation projects (Rail Stations, Transportation Hubs, Maintenance Facilities) using the applicable Transportation Design Manuals, Building Codes and Standards; Prepare and review mechanical design drawings using design and coordination software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks; Prepare and review mechanical calculations for heat loss/ heat gain loads, plumbing loads with industry relevant software such as carrier HAP calculation software, Trace 700, DOE EE4; Perform building inspections and author recertification reports as required by local jurisdiction; Research and apply engineering theories using psychometric charts, friction loss calculations, to size equipment like chillers, boilers, air handling units, ductwork and piping systems. 20% domestic travel required. 50% telecommuting allowed; must live within normal commuting distance of Atlanta, GA.
