Charles Drew Health Centers is Hiring an Associate Pharmacy Director Near Omaha, NE

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Pharmacy Services, the Associate Pharmacy Director is responsible for functioning as partner and clinical leader for the pharmacy service line, co-managing the program including development of protocols, standard procedures and management of all pharmaceutical care related activities. The goal of the Associate Director is to assist the Sr. Director with ensuring timely access to high quality pharmaceutical care for CDHC patients through clinical systems improvements, support recruitment and retention efforts of Pharmacy departmental staff, training/ development and support oversight of quality improvement initiatives. The Associate Director will assist the Senior Director to ensure the mission and goals of the organization are realized through the professional and effective delivery of pharmaceutical services. As directed by the Senior Director of Pharmacy Services, provides departmental reports regarding clinical activities and outcomes. The Associate Director will assist the Senior Director to provide clinical expertise and leadership in the design and implementation of new projects and innovative clinical programs that include collaboration with strategic business and community partners.

Provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care by overseeing accurate and efficient processing, recordkeeping, and dispensing of patient prescriptions issued by CDHC providers. In addition to performing traditional pharmacy duties, communicate with CDHC providers to inform and promote the use of the most appropriate pharmacoeconomic treatment that positively influences prescribing practices. Participate in the development of policies and programs that aim to promote good health, educate our patients about the importance of being compliant with medication therapy, and work toward improving clinical outcomes.

POSITION-SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The position will ensure the delivery of competent, accurate, pharmaceutical care to all patients.
  • The position will be responsible for working with the Senior Director of Pharmacy Services in the development and use of analysis and feedback of clinical performance measurement indicators processes and audits. The position champions the principals of pharmaceutical care in drug therapy management.
  • The position will help the Senior Director manage and lead staff, which includes other pharmacists and pharmacy techs and may be called upon to perform all the functions of a pharmacist as needed.
  • Ensure that the delivery of high quality pharmaceutical care meets or exceeds the needs and satisfaction of all patients served, all organizational and professional standards, all clinical outcomes and related expectations; and all productivity standards, goals, and expectations and all financial metrics associated with the efficient, cost effective delivery of pharmaceutical care.
  • Ensure all clinical services functions achieve expected clinical, productivity, and financial outcomes.
  • Makes recommendations to Senior Director of Pharmacy Services regarding revision to the prescription fee schedule annually or on an as needed basis
  • Support expansion and programing with area Colleges of Pharmacy.
  • Participate in ongoing assessment and evaluation of the pharmacy service line.
  • Development, review and update all pharmacy policies and procedures annually or as needed.
  • Assures that quality management programs are carried out in all clinical areas through the development and implementation of effective management programs, clinical protocols and guidelines, other decision tools, and review of the outcomes. Develops a performance database incorporating HRSA, The Joint Commission and other key quality indicators to provide leadership necessary to meet regulatory requirements and guidelines.
  • Ensure metrics for clinical outcomes are consistently reviewed, and that the organization is provided clear guidance and direction affecting ongoing improvements in the quality of care.
  • Manage departmental scheduling.
  • Educate staff in all standards, policies and procedures.
  • Supervise and evaluate the departmental staff as requested.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Education: BS in Pharmacy, Graduate of an Accredited Pharmacy School or passed the FPGEE.
  • Licensure: Valid Nebraska Pharmacy License held in good standing or be eligible for licensure in Nebraska required.
  • Experience: Require knowledge of general retail and clinical pharmacy. Two years of retail and clinical, community health, or ambulatory experience preferred.
  • Travel: Minimal in-town traveling.
  • Possess general knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Office, PowerPoint. Knowledge of QS1 and NextGen preferred.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills necessary to engage patients, providers, and other staff.
  • Ability to work well individually and within a team environment.
  • Hours/Days of Operation: 9a – 6p, Monday through Friday only. No weekends or holidays.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
