Annandale Village is Hiring a Director of Transportation Near Suwanee, GA

Position Purpose

Plan, organize, and supervise operations of the Annandale Village transportation program; participate in annual budget development, provide, and account for materials, equipment, and supplies.

Required Qualifications

Minimum requirements include the following:

Bachelor’s degree with three years supervisory experience in transportation management

Previous experience with the disabled population preferred.

Must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid Class C Georgia Driver’s License, proof of vehicle insurance, and meet company policy regarding MVR requirements.

Must meet state requirements regarding a GBI and FBI criminal history record check which requires fingerprinting.

Must undergo and pass a drug screening and screening for Tuberculosis.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Assigns work, schedules employee work shifts, overtime, vacation, sick leave coverage and related, and reviews and approves time sheets.
Schedules transportation runs including but not limited to work, volunteer, church, holiday, and other travel, providing transportation when needed.
Develop and maintain a positive relationship with the airport to foster cooperation and support.
Trains or oversees training of drivers in work procedures, standards and safety practices, and monitors operations for compliance with safety standards, including classroom training and buses.
Interviews and recommends selection of job applicants, appraises employee performance, conducts informal counseling on work issues, and prepares documentation and recommends discipline and improvement plans for deficiencies.
Coordinates with site administrators, program coordinators, and others regarding transportation needs and field trips.
Evaluates, establishes and balances assigned routes.
Evaluates regulations and develops operations procedures, standards, and programs to ensure safety and compliance of transportation inspection and operations.
Prepares the draft transportation budget, purchases supplies and materials, and monitors expenditures.
Investigates all fleet accidents or near accidents to determine causes and prevent recurrences, serving as the point of contact.
Prepares and maintains a variety of reports and records related to Villager transportation including billing.
Maintains vehicles for cleanliness, interior and exterior, while also checking wheelchair lifts are properly working; prepares work orders as needed.
Ensures the vehicle travel binders and proper equipment are in the vehicle, updating forms and replacing logs per policy and procedure as needed.
Meet with Annandale Village executive team to present information and advice on functioning of the transportation program and resolve issues.
Performs other duties that may be necessary in the best interest of Annandale at Suwanee, Inc. to meet the personal service needs of the Annandale Villagers.

Knowledge of:

Principles and practices of supervision, including work planning and review, and basic personnel practices.
Practices and procedures of budgeting, first aid, safe driving, Villagers transportation planning and programs, including route planning and balancing, scheduling coverage, safety programs, driver instruction, and special population needs.
Provisions of Georgia Vehicle Code applicable to the operation of vehicles in transporting Villagers

Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff and support staff
Preparing and monitoring budgets
Exercising independent judgement and decision-making.
Sitting for extended periods in bus driver's seat
Clear, corrected vision equal to 20/40 in both eyes (Snellen).
Bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching to inspect vehicle and clean interior. ·
Monitor traffic conditions, bus malfunctions, and other hazards
Wheelchair van drivers must be able to lift occupants weighing up to 85 pounds from wheelchair in case of emergency.
Ability to read, write, and speak English, count, add, and subtract.
Must also be able to read maps, time schedules and directions.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands; use fingers; handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk; and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, and walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, or crawl. Employee is required to lift up to 25 pounds and/or move up to 75 pounds (with assistance). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Employee is required to transport (drive) and assist Villagers in and out of vehicles. Employee is required to perform CPR/First Aid.
