CULTURE:

The Pharmacy Technician position is responsible for preparing medications for patient consumption under the general supervision of the licensed pharmacist and in accordance with departmental procedures. 

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

• Performs duties assigned by the licensed pharmacist. Areas of work are routinely checked for quality control.
• Assists the patients by greeting them in person and on the phone, answering questions and requests, and referring inquiries to the pharmacist.
• Maintains inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory levels, anticipating needed medications and supplies, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt, and removing outdated drugs.
• Maintains a clean and safe pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
• Processing prescriptions including validation of the prescription, interpretation, data entry, processing through insurance, and filling prior to the pharmacist verification.
• Maintains records by filing prescriptions in accordance with the federal rules and regulations.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

• High school diploma or GED.
• A pharmacy technician certification, or provisional certification. 

PREFERRED:

• Prior retail pharmacy experience and medication knowledge are preferred. 
• Pharmacy certification is preferred. Ability to obtain certification within a year is required.

MELISSA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL:

Melissa Memorial Hospital is a 15-bed critical access hospital, located in Holyoke, Colorado. While being “rural” we are equipped for any situation. It is a model rural hospital with 1 operating room, surgical procedure room, 4 bay emergency room, and radiology including 64-slice CT scanner and mammography, MRI, ECHO, and Nuclear Medicine, along with other ancillary services. The hospital is co-located with a family practice clinic and retail pharmacy services. Other services include chemotherapy, general & orthopedic surgery, podiatry, cardiology, orthopedic surgery, progressive rehab services, and wound care. MMH operates a full-time EMS service and maintains a 24/7 AirLife Helicopter base.
