CULTURE:

The essential functions to the "job description" is inspecting, monitoring, repairing, and improving the facility. Thorough knowledge of the techniques, procedures and processes used for the operation of building services and having good knowledge of construction practices. As well as having the ability to meet emergency situations. Using the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; effectively use computer applications such as control software, spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail and database software in performing work assignments. Having good judgment; initiative; resourcefulness; integrity; reliability; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. 

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

• Operate and maintain equipment, facilities, grounds, and systems as needed and/or as assigned to ensure a safe environment of care.
• Grounds keeping includes lawn, landscaping and snow removal unless otherwise contracted with a third party.
• Perform general industrial maintenance including installation of appropriate equipment and devices to ensure proper operation, some being specific to the healthcare environment. 
• Maintenance includes: service/repair work on HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, motors, pumps, electrical systems, lighting, flooring, window coverings, walls and other systems.
• Accurately record and report work performed.
• Adhere to trade practices and codes.
• Access roof areas, basements, equipment rooms, tunnels, crawl spaces and other minimally accessible areas on a regular basis.
• Respond to facility emergencies to ensure minimal disruption to patient care and to minimize facility damage. This may also include emergency duties such as fire control, flood mitigation, etc.
• Display critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
• Foster partnerships with all stakeholders by displaying respect, positivity, and support while representing the organization.
• Anticipate and alleviate problems before they become crisis situations.
• Coordinates the repair of equipment or recommends replacement.
• Lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM

• 3 years of maintenance experience or equivalent work experience in the following areas: HVAC; Plumbing; Basic Carpentry; Painting, Equipment maintenance and repair; Troubleshooting/Diagnosing equipment.
• Thorough knowledge of the techniques, procedures and processes used for the efficient operation of building services; good knowledge of construction practices; ability to meet emergency situations; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to effectively use computer applications such as control software, spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail and database software in performing work assignments; ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the essential duties of the position; good judgment; initiative; resourcefulness; integrity; reliability; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

MELISSA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL:

Melissa Memorial Hospital is a 15-bed critical access hospital, located in Holyoke, Colorado. While being “rural” we are equipped for any situation. It is a model rural hospital with 1 operating room, surgical procedure room, 4 bay emergency room, and radiology including 64-slice CT scanner and mammography, MRI, ECHO, and Nuclear Medicine, along with other ancillary services. The hospital is co-located with a family practice clinic and retail pharmacy services. Other services include chemotherapy, general & orthopedic surgery, podiatry, cardiology, orthopedic surgery, progressive rehab services, and wound care. MMH operates a full-time EMS service and maintains a 24/7 AirLife Helicopter base.
