Garden View Assisted Living is Hiring a Resident Care Aide Near Baton Rouge, LA

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Resident Attendant is responsible for logging responses to emergency response system. The Resident Attendant maintains a physical, social and psychological environment that will be conducive to the best interest and welfare of the residents. The Resident Attendant is responsible for assisting residents with personal care needs and in matters not requiring professional nursing techniques. The Resident Attendant is responsible for the promptness and accuracy of their duties. The Staff and Wellness Coordinators will periodically evaluate the Resident Attendant’s work for achievement of objectives, compliance with federal and state regulations, and coordination with other departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): As directed, will provide assistance with:

  • Dressing and undressing (clothing should be clean and appropriate for the season)
  • Bathing
  • Mobility devices (cane, walker, wheelchair, crutches, ect.) including monitoring of safe transfer and ambulation techniques
  • Care of ADL devices, including, but not limited to: eyeglasses, contact lenses, hearing aides, dentures, etc.
  • Other duties, as directed, as it pertains to support the philosophy and mission of Garden View, and Adult Residential Care Facility (State of Louisiana) governing guidelines.

2. Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs): As directed, will provide assistance with:

  • Telephone (assists with calls, phone repairs, hearing and vision adaptive devices)
  • Housekeeping services as needed some examples are: emptying trash, bed making, and bed changing.
  • Flat linen services
  • Escorts residents and coordinates internal transportation needs.
  • Mail delivery, residents’ personal correspondence.
  • Other duties, as directed, as it pertains to support the philosophy and mission of Garden View, and Adult Residential Care Facility (State of Louisiana) governing guidelines.

3. Health Maintenance and Monitoring Tasks: As directed, will provide assistance with:

  • Observes and reports changes in residents physical condition and cognitive / emotional status to Wellness Coordinator.
  • Conducts services as selected by resident in level of care, and as directed by supervisor
  • Monitors for environmental safety hazards
  • Uses proper disposal and storage techniques for sharps containers, red bags, and any other hazardous waste, according to OSHA policies and guidelines.
  • Records and reports incidents, errors, and accidents.
  • Records resident related events / issues.
  • Other duties, as directed, as it pertains to support the philosophy and mission of Garden View, and Adult Residential Care Facility (State of Louisiana) governing guidelines.

4. Dining: As directed, will provide assistance with:

  • Assists in a variety of tasks relating to dining (escort residents to dining room, take meal orders set up and clean tables, serve meals, bus tables, and vacuums after each meal.
  • Other duties, as directed, as it pertains to support the philosophy and mission of Garden View, and Adult Residential Care Facility (State of Louisiana) governing guidelines.

5. Activity Program: As directed will provide assistance with:

  • Responsible for participating in and supporting resident – centered activity programs

(as directed).

  • Other duties, as directed, as it pertains to support the philosophy and mission of Garden View

6. Emergency Preparedness: As directed, will provide assistance with:

  • Responds to and acts appropriately in emergent or disaster situations.

Other Duties:

1. Demonstrates an appreciation of the heritage, values, and wisdom of the residents and an understanding of the aging process.

2. Attends and participates in staff meetings.

3. Participates in in-service projects or committees as assigned.

4. Assists with quality assurance programs when indicated

5. Assists in training of new staff

6. Other duties, as directed, as it pertains to support the philosophy and mission of Garden View, and Adult Residential Care Facility (State of Louisiana) governing guidelines.

Qualifications:

1. Must be working towards a high school diploma or equivalent, Certified Nurse Assistant Preferred, but not required.

2. Must be able to meet the Standards of Performance/Conduct as outlined in the Garden View Employee handbook.

3. Must be able to think, act, and intervene independently in both routine and emergent situations. Must be self-motivated and function as an “in charge person”.

4. Must be able to work flexible hours and participate in holiday activities.

5. Must be able to relate to residents and staff in a courteous and diplomatic manner under all circumstances.

Working Conditions:

1. Exposure to body fluids, infection, odors, and behavior of residents.

2. Exposure to chemicals / cleaning solutions.

Physical Demands:

1. Must be able to lift / push up to 50 pounds.

2. Must be able to walk four miles daily.

3. Must be able to lift, carry, stand, bend, squat, crawl, reach, and kneel using good body

mechanics for sustained periods of time.

4. Must possess sight / hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to

function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.

5. Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability in order to cope with the physical, mental, and emotional stress of the position.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, PRN

Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
