Superior Court of California County of Los Angeles is Hiring an Administrator II Near Los Angeles, CA

ABOUT THE COURT

The Superior Court of Los Angeles County is the largest unified trial court in the United States. Its 580 judges and commissioners work in one of the 36 facilities within the Court's 12 judicial districts and are supported by 5,000 full-time Court employees. The Court has an annual budget of more than $1 billion. Located in Southern California, Los Angeles County is geographically one of the nation's largest counties, covering 4,752 square miles and, with over 10,400,000 residents, is also one of its most populous counties.

ABOUT THE POSITION
An Administrator II is responsible for planning, managing and directing all non-judicial operations and administrative functions of a trial court or a central Court litigation type with at least 20 or 25 courtrooms, respectively, or that meet such other criteria as Court management may specify. They may also manage litigation support sections or sections of a central Court-wide administrative division of similar complexity and impact. Incumbents participate in development and implementation of division or section strategic plans and initiatives designed to achieve the Court's overall plan. They also monitor trial court or a section of operations to ensure they are efficient, effective and in compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations.

This is an at-will managerial position. The Trial Court Employment Protection and Governance Act (SB 2140) authorizes the Court to exclude managerial employees from the employment protection provisions of the Act subject to meet and confer. 

TELEWORK OPPORTUNITIES
This position is eligible for some telework following an initial training period.
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 
To qualify, you must meet one of the following requirements at time of application:
 OPTION I: Six (6) years of experience at the level of a 
Court Operations Manager working for the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles.  

OPTION I (Substitution): Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university* -AND- two (2) years of experience at the level of a Court Operations Manager working for the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles.  

OPTION II: Six (6) years of progressive responsibility managing** multiple administrative support functions and/or operations in a Court or public entity.  

OPTION II (Substitution): Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university* -AND- four (4) years of progressive responsibility managing** multiple administrative support functions and/or operations in a Court or public entity. **Managing is defined as having the responsibility for planning, organizing, implementing, and administering the work of a functional program or section through subordinate staff performing comparable duties at the level of a Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles,Court Operations Manager. 
Note: Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio, i.e., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience. No additional credit is given for overtime.*EDUCATION VERIFICATION

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will be independent, reliable, adaptable, and possess the following desirable qualifications:
  • Experience working with and applying laws, rules, and regulations such as California Rules of Court, Civil Code, Government Code, Local Court Rules, etc.
  • Experience in working with Judicial Officers, labor groups, State and County government officials, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience with planning for, implementing, and developing trainings for Case Management Systems.
