Tidewater Fleet Supply is Hiring a Regional Operations Manager Near Norfolk, VA

Job Title: Regional Operations Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
The role of Regional Operations Manager is to function as a strategic business partner and a key member of the Operations Team. They are responsible for the overall direction, planning, and execution of all performance metrics for assigned branches and distribution center operations. Additional responsibilities include leading branches with sales growth, while maintaining inventory and productivity budgets, personnel growth, recruiting, and leadership awareness.

This position is focused on identifying and implementing distribution process improvements and service quality initiatives, while driving operational performance. With culture transformations underway, this leadership role will need to simultaneously work on the development of strategy ideation while carrying out the tactical day-to-day hands-on execution of these strategies.
Responsibilities

  • Effectively lead and grow all facets of the business (people, sales, product, and profit); ensure alignment with company strategies and values.
  • Commitment to consistent growth of assigned locations with a focus on exceeding all sales, margins, payroll, and profit goals.
  • Assist in directing compliance of Managers and Team Members with established company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Review and analyze operational records and reports of Branch Managers to project sales and to determine store profitability and other business-related measures to strengthen and sharpen business acumen.
  • Responsible for the recruiting, hiring, training, development, and retention processes of quality associates.
  • Coaches and develops team members, provides clear expectations, corrective and positive feedback, recognition, and growth opportunities.
  • Ensure the management team values diversity and supports a fair and respectful environment for both Team Members and customers, including high performance, recognition, candid feedback, and rewards for performance.
  • Directs appearance and merchandising for assigned stores.
  • Sets the example for the highest standards of customer service, which may include customer and associate's concerns.
  • Develops and recommends sales and operations practices and policies that support the progression of a high-growth business while improving the organization's competitive position and profitability.
  • Drives continuous process improvement, lean initiatives, and change management.
  • Develops, monitors, and reports on operating costs within functional areas.
  • Identifies improvement opportunities, makes recommendations, and implements solutions.
  • Keeps current on external information and technology advancements and developments to increase technology innovation, reduce operating expenses, and increase competitive advantage.
  • Analyze marketing potential of new and existing store locations and recommend additional sites.
  • Responsible for maintaining/overseeing records on fleet maintenance.
  • Responsible for maintaining records and scheduling all building maintenance.
  • Performs additional duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • Stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, and walking are occasionally required.
  • Talking, hearing, and seeing with close visual acuity are frequently required.
  • Keying data is repetitive motion and is frequently required.
  • Occasional exposure to other worksites that require personal protective equipment.
  • The ability to travel regularly within the region is required.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Define problems, collect information, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and effectively resolve issues independently.
  • Think strategically, analyze issues and options, and effectively manage and facilitate change.
  • Effectively delegate and supervise projects to ensure timely and quality execution.
  • Ability to work an assortment of days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
  • Use Microsoft software effectively (Word, Excel required - PowerPoint preferred)
  • Use basic math accurately: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Perform calculations such as Gross Margin and understand financial documents, such as Profit and Loss Statements (P&L), invoices, etc.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with stores, associates, customers, office and warehouse support staff, peers, and supervisors.
  • Ability to ensure effective and efficient use of all available resources in a cost-effective manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers, direct reports, and management, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a diverse population and workforce.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic wholesale/retail environment.
  • Ability to make sound, common sense business decisions.
  • Ability to think in terms of overall store leadership and business objectives.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 3 years of outside sales or operations experience.
  • 2 years of management experience.
  • Heavy Duty industry experience preferred.
  • Proven track record in meeting sales and gross margin targets.
  • Proven financial and business acumen.
  • Valid driver's license.
