Ford County Seasonal Mower Operator Fund : Department : Administrative ServicesFLSA Status : Non-ExemptReports To : Noxious Weed DirectorJob Status : SeasonalTravel Required : Constant in county travelWork Schedule : Position Summary Under the direction and supervision of the Noxious Weed Director, the mower operator position involves the maintenance and safe operation of the tractor and mower.

The employee also performs manual tasks related to mowing. Essential Functions : Reasonable Accommodation Statement To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Physical removal of foreign and hazardous debris in Right-of-Ways for safe mowing. Responsible for maintaining tall growth around bridges, signs, culverts and making sure intersections are free of any sight restrictions.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS Other related duties as necessary or required. SKILLS & ABILITIES Experience : Entry level of equipment operator experience.

The employee is expected to have acquired the necessary information and skills after one year in the position. Education : High School diploma or GED.

Skills : Some knowledge of maintenance and servicing of tractors and mowers. Ability to operate tractor and mowers. Problem Solving : No problem solving exists in the position.

Decision Making : Little decision-making required. Accountability : Employee is not responsible for budgetary control of the department, and does not participate in the annual budgetary process.

Supervision : Requires little or limited supervision. Noxious Weed Director always reviews Job assignments. The employee does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Personal Relations : Occasional contact with county departments and the general public. Working Conditions : Job performance involves physical effort and manual labor.

  • Extreme weather conditions are a factor in this position. Physical Requirements : Ability to verbally communicate with employees and supervisors;
  • work extended hours as required; extreme physical effort and labor required to operate and maintain equipment; ability to lift and carry heavy parts and tools;

ability to operate and service tractors, mowers or pickup. This position requires sitting on a tractor seat for periods exceeding two hours.
