Candidate is applying for a position supporting the Department of Defense Chief Information Officer in their responsibility to provide cybersecurity policy and oversight for National and Defense leaders. The work is primarily conducted at the Pentagon with limited travel. The Communications Specialist will be responsible for executing the client’s communication efforts, both internally and externally. Main responsibilities are the following:
· Respond to client requests
· Manage, track, and deliver staffing packages for signature by the Secretary of Defense, DoD CIO, and DoD Chief Information Security Officer
· Organize, coordinate, and lead cross-functional policy efforts with government and contractor subject matter experts
· Create reports and other documents
· Translate complex content, often technical content, into a clear and concise documents for use by executives
· Design and implement communication strategies
· Provide general organizational support Qualifications
· Active TS-SCI Clearance
· 5 years experience as a senior staff officer, action officer, or similar position with a major DoD staff
· Recent staff experience within the DoD (past 3 years)
· Ability to translate complex content, sometimes technical content, into a clear and concise document and/or presentation
· Strong organization skills
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Strong customer service skills with emphasis on nurturing relationships with executive and/or military leaders
· Strong sense of urgency
· Microsoft Office experience – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
