Requisition No: 826610Agency: Department of HealthWorking Title: REGISTERED NURSE SPECIALIST - 64066199Pay Plan: Career ServicePosition Number: 64066199Salary: $53,000.00 - $56,000.00Posting Closing Date: 04/12/2024Total Compensation Estimator Tool Your Specific Responsibilities: This employee in this position will be a member of the Florida Health Department in Miami-Dade County Tuberculosis Control and Prevention Program and will function as a Nursing Specialist providing public health nursing services in Miami-Dade County. This position will report to the Assistant Director of Nursing. Employee will coordinate and monitor the care and treatment of the clients related to Tuberculosis Control and Prevention Program pertaining to the health of the community and the individual. This employee must be able to function independently and posses' excellent problem-solving skills, as well as make decisions, and function as a team member within a nurse-support staff team.Performs nursing assessments related to Tuberculosis Control, including but not limited to vital signs, audiology, vision acuity and color discrimination screening, TB risk assessment, medical and family history, psychosocial status. Collects sputum specimens, ensures radiology and laboratory services are ordered and collected. Reviews, approves and follows- up with laboratory results. Educates on HIV and performs pre and post HIV Counseling. Educates client on IGRA's vs TST. Administers, read Tuberculosis skin test and refers for evaluation, as needed of target testing individuals. Enters report medication in Medication Plan. Issues Nurse Issuance medications to cases, suspects, contact to cases and preventive therapy in the general population. Documents all finding, and action taken in the client's Electronic Health Record (EHR) in Health Management System (HMS) following the DOH in Miami Dade County quality medical record review criteria. Completes all documentation related to the care and follow up of TB clients including client services (CSR). Provides education on TB infection and disease to individuals and groups in the clinic setting. Keeps and ensure all clients information is keep confidential.Coordinates and Case Managements activities related to Tuberculosis Infection. Follow ups on Directly Observed Preventive Therapy (DOPT), Direct Observed Therapy (DOT) and preventive Therapy medication issuance for TB Clients. Educates clients on of TB Preventive Therapy, counsels on medication side effects of drugs, and explains program's goal and communicability of disease. Medication Plan and ensures Medication tracking are updated. Follows-up on medication issuance client's progress and/or lack of progress. Calls client when miss appointment and documents action taken in HMS. Opens and closes care plans in HMS Care coordination module. Provides report to supervisor as needed.Utilizes nursing assessments to provide vaccines and educates client as needed. Inputs vaccine correctly into Florida SHOTS (State Health Online Tracking System) and imported into HMS. Maintains vaccine inventory and accountability following Immunization Services policies and procedures.Assist TB Case Manager in weekly meeting with case management team. Reviews with CM team related trends. Evaluates compliance, barrier to effective treatment, client adverse reaction to therapy, laboratory monitoring outcomes. Identifies non-adherence to treatment and ensures at all intervention or action take of a non-adherence is document in in EHR in HMS. Provides monthly updates and status reports to Supervisor. Closes Care plan upon completion of treatment in HMS Care coordination module. Participates in Cohort reviews.Submits all timesheets (People First), EAR's other DOH paperwork by required deadlines and complies with program's protocols for calling out sick, tardiness and/or leave request. Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) call down list, etc. Email communications must be maintained daily.Participates in a documented programmatic and/or agency QI Project and/or QI related activity. Attends and participates in team meetings and team building activities, in services, and conferences as required. Preceptors' new public health nurses and/or students. Assists with orientation of and training of students and staff.Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
