Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Athletics and Head Racquet Sports Pro, the Athletics Sports Coach creates a fun, welcoming, and accessible atmosphere that encourages learning and a passion for the game of all sports. Responsible for coaching and teaching youth aged 2 to 18 on the rules, fundamentals, and techniques of all sports offered. Collaborates with the Director of Athletics, Head Racquet Sports Pro, and parents on ideas to ensure the success of the Junior Athletics Sports Program. 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Fundamental knowledge of soccer, tennis, flag football, sports instruction, and teaching methodology.
  • A passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing youth.
  • Ability to adapt teaching and instruction style based on the player's age, level, and style.
  • Ability to show patience and compassion. 
  • Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
  • Possess a personality that makes people feel welcome, with a passion for providing an outstanding member experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, diplomatic, and communication skills. 
  • Must be reliable and punctual. 
  • Self-motivated and is accountable for one’s actions. 

Requirements

Education, Certifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience as a coach, 
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience working with novice to intermediate levels. 
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience competitive playing experience, preferred.
  • Fluent, written and conversational, English.
  • Valid Driver’s License. 
  • Comfortable working outside in a hot and noisy environment. 
  • Frequent lifting, bending, and twisting repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods and move freely within the Racquet Sports Facility. 
  • Must be able to lift and carry between up to 40 lbs.

Expected Work Hours

  • This is a seasonal, full-time, or part-time position. 
  • Should be open to a flexible schedule as needed based on business needs, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Overtime may be required to meet increased membership needs. Required overtime could extend the workday to 10 hours and/or require 7 days a week.
