Summary

 Our Lifeguard/Swim Instructors create a welcoming and exceptional experience for the Club’s members and guests at the Pool. Responsible for ensuring swimmer and guest safety in the pool area and administering first aid or lifesaving techniques as needed. In coordination with the Lead Swim Coach, coaches and provides guidance and instruction to our Junior Aquatics Program participants – swim team, water polo, and driving. May also provide private or group instruction on swimming techniques to improve member skills.

Requirements

Education, Certifications & Experience

  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
  • American Red Cross Basic First Aid
  • American Red Cross CPR Card
  • Extensive knowledge of and ability to administer or use first aid, CPR, AED, and other lifesaving techniques.
  • 1 to 3 years prior swim instructor experience required. 
  • Strong knowledge of swimming techniques. 
  • Ability to adapt teaching and instruction style based on the level and style of the Swimmer.
  • Fluent, written and conversational, English.
  • Comfortable working outside in a hot and noisy environment. 
  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods and move freely about the Pool area. 
  • Occasionally lifts, carries, pulls, and pushes between 30 lbs and 200 lbs, with assistance.

Expected Work Hours

  • This is a seasonal position available from May through September. The week before Memorial Day for setup of the Pool, it opens Memorial Day and closes in September or when the temperatures drop too low for swimming. 
  • Daily shifts start as early as 7:00 am and end as late as 11:00 pm (dependant on private parties or events). 
  • Should be open to a flexible schedule as needed based on business needs, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Overtime may be required to meet increased membership needs. Required overtime could extend the workday to 10 hours.
