JOBANNOUNCEMENT
SacredHeartCommunityService,locatedinSanJosé,CA,islookingforaPartTime,Non-Exempt,TransitAssistanceProgram(TAP)CoordinatorintheFamilyAssistanceDepartment.TheFamilyAssistanceDepartmentsupportscommunitymembersatriskofdisplacementthroughfinancialassistance,casemanagement,andconnectionstoresources.TheTAPCoordinatormustbehighlyorganized,andpossessanabilitytoworkflexiblyandcreatively,withapassionforourmission–tochangelivesandimpactpoverty.Formorethan60years,SacredHeartCommunityServicehasbeenoneoftheleadinginstitutionsinaddressingpovertyinSantaClaraCountythroughastrategythatcombinesaddressingtheconsequencesofpovertythroughimpactfulprogramswhilebuildingpowerwithpeopleadvocatingforsystemicchange.
POSITIONSUMMARY:
TheTransitAssistanceProgram(TAP)isacountywideprogramprovidedinpartnershipwithSantaClara
ValleyTransportationAuthority(VTA)andtheCountyofSantaClaraSocialServicesAgencytohelp
low-incomehouseholdsobtainaffordabletransportation.ThePartTimeTAPCoordinatorsupportsSHCS’effortstodevelop,administer,andevaluateTAPthatprovidessubsidizedmonthlybuspassestolowincomehouseholds.TheTAPCoordinatorisamemberoftheFamilyAssistanceTeamandparticipatesindirectservicesandotherteamactivities,asneeded,andsupportseffortstoengagemembersincommunityorganizingandpolicyadvocacyinitiativesrelatedtohousingandhomelessness.
RESPONSIBILITIESANDDUTIES:
TAPProgram(80-90%)
●AdministersmonthlyTAPpasses,includingreviewingapplications,collectingpayment,countingcorrectchange,andfillingoutreceipts.
●CoordinateswithmultipleprogramsatSacredHeartCommunityServicetomaintainanactivelistofeligibleTAPparticipants.
●SupportsthecreationandmaintenanceofTAPdocuments,includingpoliciesandproceduresandprogramforms.
●CompletesmonthlyreconciliationofTAPpasses.
●ConductsdataentryintointernalagencyandVTAnetworkdatabases.
●Trainandsupervisevolunteersandinterns,andsupportthedevelopmentoftheirorganizationalandcommunityleadership.
FamilyAssistance(5-10%)
●WorkscollaborativelytodevelopandimplementeffortstoensurememberinvolvementandleadershipdevelopmentwithintheFamilyAssistancedepartment.
●Identifiesandengagesmembers,includingconnectingpeopletoorganizingcommittees,conducting1:1conversations,andassessingandimplementingcommunityengagementopportunitieswithvolunteersandpeoplereceivinghousingassistance.
●Engagesanddevelopsprogramvolunteersbyprovidingeducation,training,feedback,andsupport.
●Participatesinstaffandteamdevelopmentactivities,andengageincontinuouslearning,evaluation,andprofessionaldevelopment.
AgencyParticipationandLeadership(5-10%)
●Supporttheplanningofandparticipationinteamandagency-widemeetings,events,andoutreachefforts.
●Attendsstaffmeetings,retreats,andotherteamandothermandatoryorganizationevents.
●Performsotherdutiesasassigned.
REQUIREDQUALIFICATIONSANDEXPERIENCE:
●Strongcommitmenttoourvisionofacommunityunitedtoensureeverychildandadultisfreefrompoverty.
●Bachelor’sdegreeinsocialwork,publichealth,orarelatedfieldorequivalentworkexperienceinarelatedfield.
●Stronginterpersonalandcommunicationskills,includingtheabilitytodeliverchallengingmessageswithempathyandrespect,andaninterestinservingindividualsfromdiversebackgroundsexperiencinghigh-stresssituations.
●Outstandingcustomerserviceskills.
●Abilitytothriveinaflexible,compassionate,supportivefast-pacedenvironmentwhilemaintainingapositive,solution-orientedapproach.
●Abilitytoworkcollaborativelyinateamenvironmentandtoworkindependentlywithlimitedsupervisionwhennecessary.
●AbilitytoworktwoweekenddaysonoccasionespeciallyduringApril,November,December.
●TheTAPCoordinator’sstandardworkinghoursareMondaytoThursdayinpersonattheagency’s1381SouthFirstStreetlocation.
●Thepositionrequirescomputeruseforupto5hoursperday.Reasonableaccommodationcanbemadetoenableindividualswithdifferingabilitiestoperformessentialfunctions.
●MustcompleteaDMVandabackgroundcheckandqualifytobeinsuredundertheSacred
HeartCommunityServicedrivingpolicy.
PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONSANDEXPERIENCE:
●Bilingual/biliterate(Spanish,Vietnamese,orChinese).
●1-2years’experienceusingSalesforce,HMIS,VTAdatabase.
●1-2years’experiencecoordinatingprojectsandcreatingpolicyandprocedures.
●Experiencecollectinglargeamountsofcashpayments.

REPORTINGRELATIONSHIP:
TheFamilyAssistanceCommunicationCoordinatorreportstotheFamilyAssistanceManager(Intake&Eligibility).
COMPENSATION:
