Math Lab Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY

The Math Lab Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Math Lab. This includes supervision of student workers, tutoring support, instruction, administrator and proctor roles, and data management and student success focus. The Math Lab Coordinator plays a crucial function in encouraging math proficiency and academic success among students.

The expected salary for this position is $43,000/year with a comprehensive benefits package which includes, medical, dental and vision coverage, 403b, 23 Paid Time Off days, 21 Holidays, tuition remission and much more.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Administrative

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Math Lab, including scheduling student workers and ensuring appropriate staffing.
  • Maintain a student-friendly learning environment for a diverse student population.
  • Supervise and support federal work-study and graduate assistant tutors.
  • Recruit and train student tutors using the CRLA model.
  • Update and maintain the Math Lab website, marketing materials, and other related resources.
  • Serve as proctor and liaison for math placement test, and ensure accurate and timely reporting of placement scores.

Instruction and Tutoring Support

  • Serve as an instructor for as 5 course sections of developmental math per academic year. Responsibilities include teaching University Studies Math both face-to-face and online.
  • Provide direct tutoring support to students as needed for all mathematics courses and medical math for the School of Nursing.
  • Provide feedback to tutors and faculty.
  • Develop and maintain resources for standardized test preparation.
  • Collaborate with advisors, student support services, and faculty.

Data Management and Student Success

  • Collaborate with Mathematics faculty in the School of Natural Science to ensure alignment between developmental and required math courses.
  • Be an active team member within Academic Success by developing strategies for the retention mission of students.
  • Provide accurate record keeping for all services.
  • Track data and create reports demonstrating the impact of the Math Lab.
  • Send out student surveys to gain feedback on the success of the Math Lab.

Qualifications


SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of two years of experience in tutoring, teaching, or educational support role.
  • Strong proficiency in mathematics and ability to teach a variety of math subjects.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

INTERRELATIONS

  • Regular or daily contact with faculty, staff, and students
  • Demonstrated history of working with students of diverse identifies and cultures.
  • This is a full-time position with regular working hours scheduled Monday-Friday.
  • This is a campus-based position.
