We are looking for an Import Compliance Specialist II to join our growing organization!

General Position Summary

The Import Compliance Specialist II is a key member of the Global Trade Compliance team. They play a critical role in supporting import processes and establishing compliance with customs and trade regulations. This position will work closely with customs brokers and internal teams to support the company’s import programs, duty drawback program, and value reconciliation program. They will maintain the company’s classification database, ensure proper recordkeeping, and assist with party screenings. This position reports to the Global Senior Compliance Manager and is a remote-first hybrid position.


Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities

  • Classify products in accordance with the Harmonized System (HTSUS, WCO), maintain HS databases, and provide proper classification for entry declarations and internal teams.
  • Work closely with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and internal departments to proactively identify and resolve issues related to shipment documentation.
  • Provide administrative support for department processes and procedures.
  • Assist with binding ruling requests, ADCVD research, and similar projects.
  • Acknowledge red flags for Restricted Party Screenings and work to clear or escalate.
  • Monitor Extra Charge invoices and evaluate for customs assists or additions to invoice value.
  • Audit import entries to confirm proper declaration of goods. Identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Audit commercial invoices against purchase orders to ensure proper pricing, proper quantities, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Provide guidance and support to internal teams regarding trade compliance matters, including but not limited to, HS classifications, incoterms, valuation, and proper documentation requirements.
  • Request, record, and monitor post summary corrections, protests, and other entry related changes.
  • Work with internal departments and customs brokers to provide data necessary for the company’s Reconciliation program.

  • Monitor Importer Security Filings (ISF) to address errors or late filings.
  • Monitor and record US Customs payments and receipts.
  • Maintain electronic records in accordance with the company recordkeeping policies.


Specific Job Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and classification rules.
  • Ability to review and interpret import regulations, corporate policies, and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Understanding of duty drawback and value reconciliation processes and regulations.
  • Engage in continuing education of customs and trade regulations to keep current and identify risk and/or opportunity.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent Communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, speak up, and meet deadlines.


Education, Certification, and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, preferred.
  • 5 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Licensed Customs Broker preferred; Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) certification or other similar licensing/certification considered, depending on level of experience.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel).
  • Working understanding of CBP’s ACE Portal.
  • Experience with Oracle ERP, Oracle GTM and Descartes MkDenial is a plus.
