Position Title: Laboratory Supervisor Department: Pathology Lab Job Description: New to OU Health? General Description: Under general direction supervises and coordinates the day-to-day operation of the laboratory department. Essential Responsibilities: Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Directs campus wide department activities of a laboratory section with an emphasis on operational functions as needed for quality care Recruits, manages, and evaluates personnel in the department Manages equipment, materials, and supplies required in the section Reports to Manager and performs duties delegated by Manager Works at the bench when needed Special Requirement: Some positions may require approval in accordance with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) guidelines for unescorted access to radioactive materials. General Responsibilities: Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s Degree in biological science or medical technology OR qualifies as a Clinical Lab Scientist II, Cytotechnologist or Histotechnologist II Experience: Five (5) years experience in a clinical laboratory setting. License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: none. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of supervisory functions such as ability to solve client problems, performance improvement tools, etc. Computer literate. The University of Oklahoma College of Medicine was founded in 1900 as a medical department of the University of Oklahoma at its main campus in Norman. Lawrence N. Upjohn, M.D. is regarded as the "founding dean" and served from 1900-1904. In 1910, the school merged with the Epworth College of Medicine in Oklahoma City.
