Position Title: Pediatric Development Counselor Department: OUHP Child Study Center Clinic Job Description: General Description: Provides assessment and treatment of children with psychological or sexual behavioral problems, assessment and intervention for infants and young children with prenatal exposure to alcohol and other drugs, and assessment of children with craniofacial anomalies and/or extreme prematurity. Essential Responsibilities: Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position. Psychological Assessment. Provide evaluation and assessment for children referred for psychological services, behavior problems, disabilities, medical conditions, and trauma. Therapy. Provides individual and group therapy for children and their caregivers. Report Preparation. Prepares reports stating findings, recommendations, etc. Referrals. Responsible for taking referrals and scheduling intake assessments. General Responsibilities: Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Education: Master's Degree in Psychology. Experience: 2 years of experience providing counseling required. Experience in a clinical assessment setting with children from birth to twelve years of age preferred. OR an equivalent combination of education and experience License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Oklahoma. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to negotiate, problem solve, and make decisions in order to make patients and families have rust with the treatment. Ability to understand how children of different ages and developmental stages express their thoughts, emotions, and fears. About OU Medicine

The University of Oklahoma College of Medicine was founded in 1900 as a medical department of the University of Oklahoma at its main campus in Norman. Lawrence N. Upjohn, M.D. is regarded as the "founding dean" and served from 1900-1904. In 1910, the school merged with the Epworth College of Medicine in Oklahoma City. By 1928, all basic science and clinical facilities had been consolidated as what would become the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City, where there was a growing urban population and larger hospital facilities could be supported. By the 1960s, the Colleg...e and its affiliated hospitals had grown into a large, traditional academic medical center. In 1974, a geographically separate, community-based clinical campus was established in Tulsa, approximately 100 miles northeast of the main campus.
