The Neurodiversity, Access, and Accommodation Program Manager is a full-time, permanent exempt position at Highline College. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the accessibility and inclusivity of the college environment for neurodiverse students. This position collaborates with a wide range of faculty and staff across campus to provide leadership within the college’s equity and accessibility initiatives. This position will also work closely with students, faculty, and staff to identify and implement accommodations and supports that promote the academic success and well-being of neurodiverse learners. The Neurodiversity, Access, and Accommodation Program Manager provides support and advising broadly to students with disabilities as they navigate the college environment, both academically and socially. This position requires a deep understanding of neurodiversity, ADA regulations, and best practices in accommodation and support services. It requires excellent communication skills, the ability to exercise independent judgment, understand and apply state and federal laws and college policies and procedures, and maintain strict confidentiality standards. The position also works with campus partners on outreach and recruitment strategies for neurodiverse communities.This is a full-time exempt, at-will position. This position may require you to work some evenings and weekends.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Reporting directly to the Associate Dean, Accessibility Resources, this position will be: Collaborate with students, faculty, and staff to identify and assess the needs of neurodiverse students, including but not limited to ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, dyslexia, and anxiety disorders;Develop and implement individualized accommodation plans that align with student needs, ADA regulations, and college policies, ensuring equal access to educational opportunities;Establish and maintain direct communication with faculty and staff providing services to students with disabilities, working collaboratively to ensure a smooth delivery of accommodations and support services;Working within existing college-wide professional development and training systems, provide training and workshops to educate the campus community on effective strategies for supporting neurodiverse learners in the classroom and beyond;Consult with academic faculty and administrators as necessary to understand clinical skills and technical standards required of the program and the impact on disability-related accommodations;Serve as a liaison between students and college departments to facilitate access to resources, services, and accommodations;Work collaboratively with students to monitor progress and adjust accommodation plans as needed to promote academic success and retention;Advocate for the needs of neurodiverse students and promote a culture of inclusion and accessibility across the college community;Stay informed about current research, trends, and best practices in neurodiversity and accommodation services to continuously improve support for students;Participate in or co-lead the planning of Disability Justice Week;Represent Access Services at campuswide and community recruiting and informational events for existing and prospective students;Collaborate in partnership with Institutional Research (IR) to explore and gather data related to equity gaps of students with disabilities;Provide leadership and support with departmental Institutional Effectiveness Planning and Reflection processes;Work with the Associate Dean to oversee and monitor program budgets.Professional Development: Participate in statewide Disability Support Services Council (DSSC) and Washington; Association for Post-Secondary Education and Training (WAPED) meetings and conferences;Participate in other relevant training, conferences, and continuing education opportunities.Ability to: Communicate and collaborate effectively with people of diverse groups and backgrounds;Interpret policies and procedures;Proficiently use Google Workspace and Microsoft Office programs;Work with diverse populations.Knowledge of: ADA and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act;Universal Design for Learning framework;Accessible Design;Deep understanding of neurodiversity and experience working with neurodiverse learners.
