Description

San Marcos Academy, a private college preparatory school servicing students in grades Pre-K -12, is accepting applications for a Part Time Night Security Guard. This position is primarily responsible for the security and protection of the residence life building and its occupants, as well as patrol of the general campus. Maintaining the security of the campus for all clientele overnight is of primary importance.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1) Man the front desk and patrol the halls of the dormitory periodically throughout the overnight hours.

2) Occasional driven patrols of the campus and perimeter during the night.

3) Admit early morning deliveries through the gate to the dining hall.

4) Inform and assist dorm staff if a problem with a boarding student arises during hours of duty.

5) Maintain the peace and quiet of the dorm while on duty.

6) Call 911 or the sheriff's office if situations call for off-campus support.

7) Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

1) Friday and Saturday evenings from 11:PM - 6:00 AM (August 2023 - May 2025)

2) Wear uniform provided by the Academy (issued polo shirts)

3) Preferred “License To Carry” permit with personal carry insurance

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS:

1) Knowledge of how the dormitory operates

3) Knowledge of the building and the point of contact for the evening

4) Knowledge of the campus roads, buildings, and property lines

5) Knowledge and understanding of the Academy's Crisis Management Plan for rapid response 

when needed

6) Knowledge of basic computer skills

8) Ability to recognize and react to emergencies

9) Ability to use above average interpersonal skills in dealing with people
