Bay City Electric Works is a forward thinking, family-owned Company with a 90-year history in San Diego. We're looking for a Senior Human Resources Business Partner with a positive, employee focus, to join our growing HR team.

You will have the opportunity to be generalist, with a focus on Employee Relations, Performance Management, Benefits and Wellness, and improving our internal Training program. You'll have lots of interaction with our employees, helping problem solve and provide information. You will partner directly with our managers, as well as the other members of our HR team and payroll team to support employee growth and help our organization continue to improve.
What does Bay City Electric Works do?
The Bay City Electric Works team provides standby generator, energy storage, and engine solutions to make back up power a certainty for our customers. With over 130 employees and growing, BCEW brings the stability and structure of an established business, while still valuing the individual team members that support our success and to be the go-to generator systems supplier in California, Nevada, and Hawaii. Offering quality brands like KOHLER® and Doosan, the BCEW team provides new equipment, service, and rental power solutions for commercial, municipal, and residential customers that require emergency generator back-up power.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Partner with our employees and managers as a resource for company policies, procedures, Employee Handbook, and company standards
  • Support employee engagement through responsiveness and supporting process improvement
  • Provide talent and performance management guidance to our managers (consulting, coaching, corrective action, etc.)
  • Consult with managers on day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring compliance on practices, policy, and employment law
  • Benefits program support, enrollment, and oversee administration; work closely with employees and broker team to resolve issues for our team
  • Coordinate internal training opportunities, working with our contracted Training partners, internal resources, and our HRIS system: Assign new hire training and other training programs; Ensure training is tracked in HRIS system
  • Manage health & wellness program, working with our Wellness Consultants to best impact and reach our team and leverage wellness content created by our Wellness benefit provider
  • Support and enhance existing employee recognition programs
  • Conduct Exit Interviews for exiting employees, maintain trend data and make recommendations to address issues
  • Create, update and edit policies, as required
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or other related field or equivalent combination of work experience and/or education
  • 5-7 years of work experience in Human Resources role, with at least 3 years' experience in employee relations
  • Course work or PHR or SHRM-CP certification in HR preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment and workers' compensation laws
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop productive working relationships with stakeholders across functional and organizational lines
  • Experience with non-exempt employees and CA compliance
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees in challenging situations and impart a calming influence
  • Good judgment of people situations and ability to make recommendations on an appropriate course of action
  • Experience with health benefit plan administration; ability to explain plan features of medical, dental, and vision plans
  • Strong respect for confidentiality and ability to retain confidential matters, paperwork, files in accordance with all best practices in HR and overall company security
  • High quality verbal and written communication skills
  • Team player with the ability to work independently
  • Attention to detail with an ability to produce high-quality work
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with an HRIS system
  • Possess and maintain a valid California Driver License
  • 10% travel (mostly same day travel to our offices within CA: Rancho Cucamonga, San Jose, and Sacramento area)

Benefits
As a BCEW team member, you will enjoy a total compensation package that includes competitive pay and benefits.
  • Competitive Pay & Growth opportunities: Pay range for this role is $85,000 - $115,000 base salary and profit-sharing plan participation
  • This position will work from our Poway office and has the ability to be hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days WFH) after successful completion of 90 days of employment
