The Athletics Department at Georgia State University is seeking to hire an Academic Advisor I .

WHAT WILL YOU DO:
This position advises prospective and current students about academic requirements and selection of courses. Disseminates Information on university policies and procedures to faculty, parents, student-athletes, etc.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Maintains student's flies updated throughout their academic careers and makes changes to records as necessary.
  • Analyzes and processes requests for readmission from academic exclusion, and financial aid reinstatements; provides retention services for students who are part of the Academic Improvement Program.
  • Audits student records for curriculum, major and graduation requirements, evaluates and determines transfer credits; researches course descriptions to determine transferability.
  • Compares transcripts with entrance and graduation requirements and advises students on appropriate actions.
  • Participate in mandatory advisement sessions.
  • Evaluates and maintains student records for degree requirements using academic evaluation system.
  • Monitors student registration activities and academic performance/progress.
  • Coordinates communications to students regarding course scheduling, core and major requirements, academic resources etc.
  • Determines awards recipients based on academic performance.
  • Reviews course adjustment forms and petitions for readmission of students.
  • Processes applications for state certifications, etc.
  • Monitoring of study hall.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
