OC San is currently looking to fill the role of an Accounting Technician.
Under general supervision, the Accounting Technician performs a variety of clerical accounting duties associated with accounts payable, accounts receivable, sewer service fee program and delinquent accounts; provides information and assistance to the general public; maintains files and records; and performs a variety of clerical tasks relative to the assigned area of responsibility.
Specifically, this position will be responsible for all accounts payable functions: processing invoices to be paid, including obtaining approvals and matching invoices with receiving documents, purchase orders and/or contracts; processing checks and verifying invoices against pre-check register; providing information and assistance to OC San staff and vendors regarding payments of invoices; and preparing various reports and reconciliations. The position will also be responsible for maintaining detailed desk procedures for their specific area of responsibility.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate will possess:

• High school diploma or G.E.D., supplemented by specialized training or coursework in finance, accounting, or a related field.
• Two (2) years of clerical accounting experience.

Desirables:

Computer skills using such applications as JD Edwards Enterprise One ERP, Microsoft Excel, as well as the ability to use a 10 Key by touch are highly desired. Organizational, customer service, and analytical skills are required plus the ability to multi-task in an effort to meet tight deadlines.

Hiring Salary Range: $34.67 - $38.22/Hour
(starting salary will be within this range based upon qualifications)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; this is primarily a sedentary office classification although standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required; occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information; ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 35 pounds.
• Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen.
• Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
• Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment.
  ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS
• Office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances.
• Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
  DISASTER SERVICE WORKERS
  All Orange County Sanitation District employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the Orange County Sanitation District requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
