Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) Coordinator

Job Description
The MTSS Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring that all students receive the support they need to succeed academically, behaviorally, and socially. They will oversee the implementation of the essential elements of MTSS within the Stratham Memorial School. They will be responsible for collaborating closely with building administrators, educators, support staff, families, and students to establish, implement, and continuously improve the essential elements of MTSS. The Coordinator will promote the use of research-based practices and data-based decision making to meet the needs of each and every student through academics, behavior, and social-emotional learning (SEL) instruction, interventions, and supports. They will ensure that MTSS is in place to support student achievement through a comprehensive approach to teaching and learning.

Responsibilities
  • MTSS Implementation: Lead the implementation, continuous improvement, and sustainability of the Multi-Tiered System of Support elements across all grade levels within the school, including the cohesion and continuity of instruction, assessment, and curriculum across universal instruction, gradient supports, and special education.
  • Assessment and Data Analysis: Coordinate the collection and analysis of student data to identify academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs, using screeners, various formative and summative assessment tools and standardized tests as appropriate.

  • Tiered Intervention Planning: Collaborate with educators, administrators, and support staff to develop tiered intervention plans tailored to meet the diverse needs of students, including academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions.

  • Professional Development: Facilitate professional development sessions for teachers and staff on MTSS principles, strategies, and best practices to ensure fidelity of implementation across all tiers, including professional resources and curriculum.

  • Progress Monitoring: Establish systems for ongoing progress monitoring to assess the effectiveness of interventions and make data-driven decisions about student needs and interventions adjustments.

  • Summer Learning Academy (SLA) Coordinator: Organize, facilitate, and monitor SLA, utilizing student data to develop plans and to evaluate programming.

  • Parent and Community Engagement: Foster partnerships with parents, families, and community stakeholders to support student success within the MTSS framework, including providing resources, workshops, and information sessions.

  • Collaboration and Coordination: Work collaboratively with other school/district personnel, such as special education coordinators, counselors, and psychologists, to ensure alignment of support services and resources within the MTSS framework.

  • Data Management and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of student interventions, progress monitoring data, and outcomes, and prepare reports to communicate progress and effectiveness of the MTSS program to stakeholders. Investigate, research and implement new technologies that will assist in data collection and analysis, as available.

  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current with research, trends, and best practices related to MTSS and evidence-based interventions, and use this knowledge to continuously improve the MTSS program and practices.

  • Compliance and Accountability: Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to MTSS and student support services, and participate in program evaluation and accountability measures as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles.
  • Knowledge of K-12 school curriculum and concepts in multiple areas, including regular and special education, as well as elementary, middle and high school levels.
  • Knowledge of best practices in multi-tiered system of support programs, evaluation and staff professional development.
  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education, special education, individuals with disabilities, etc.
  • Ability to direct the on-going instructional programs for the District, providing for innovative programs and modifications to improve the quality of instruction.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate projects, work and training related to the implementation and supervision of the K-12 instructional programs for the District.
  • Ability to apply contemporary curriculum frameworks and current national and state standards for student learning.
  • Ability to prepare oral or written communications, such as presentations, reports, memoranda, letters, grant proposals, curriculum documents, etc.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, parents, community and others contacted in the course of work.
  • Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to leadership, performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
Qualifications Profile
Certification/License:
  • NH Certification(s) as required for position.
Education
  • Master's Degree in Education, Pschology, Social Work, Counseling or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • At least five years of educational leadership and/or curriculum, instruction and assessment leadership preferred.
  • Extensive successful experience in researching and implementing practices related a multi-tiered system of support to instruction, curriculum development, and professional development.
  • Successful leadership experience in designing and implementing effective instructional programs and mentoring/coaching and training staff/personnel, preferable in more than one capacity.
Travel Requirements
Travels to all school district buildings, city/state agencies, professional meetings as required.
