SAU 16 is Hiring a Paraprofessional Near East Kingston, NH

A paraprofessional employee is one who assists with the teaching-learning process under the supervision of a certified teacher or other professional or other adult duties helpful to teachersPositionUnder the direct supervision of a certified staff member, to assist certified professional staff in supporting students in the classroom as well as such duties as recess supervision and supporting students in unified arts classes. This is a school year position, 6.75 hours per day/ 33.75 hours per week.
These Duties Include
  • Preparation of materials.
  • Supervision of children in the classroom, in school activities, at recess, during bus arrival and dismissal, and at other times when asked.
  • Primary concern during supervision is to keep children:
    • safe physically and emotionally;
    • following rules;
    • developing problem solving skills;
    • communicating with adults regarding their interactions while at school.
  • Communication with teachers and other professionals regarding duties.
  • Participation in staff development activities within the school day.

Additional Duties
  • Assist guidance, pupil services staff or building administration, as needed.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
  • Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
  • Works in standard office and school building environments.
  • Ability to work outdoors during outdoor student activities.
Qualifications ProfileAny combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
  • High School diploma or equivalent. College degree preferred.
  • Prior experience working with children.
