The primary responsibility of the GIS Analyst revolves around the construction and maintenance of plant infrastructure, design, and engineering. The GIS Analyst provides a route analysis of outside plant telecommunications . These engineers are the backbone of telecom and service provider companies since they are the primary designers of the entire network.
What youll do

  • You will oversee and manage field engineering activities responsible for planning, designing, and obtaining permits for new cable routes
  • You will work as part of a multi-faceted team consisting of engineering, construction, project management, and scheduling personnel, all with a common interest of delivering results to the customer
  • You will coordinate with drafting and/ or GIS personnel located in remote offices to produce construction drawings to be used to construct the network
  • You will develop base mapping and provide field engineering services required to prepare permit drawings, OSP construction drawings, and final as-built drawings in electronic format

  • You will research and incorporate permitting requirements from jurisdictional authorities (i.e., state, county, city, railroads, and others) into the OSP design
  • You will recommend final route based on most economical solution and permitting agencys requirements
  • You will research and evaluate various route options associated with the projects. Research shall include aerial and underground options, existing customer conduit and other third party conduit
  • You will engage daily with the customers engineering team and project management staff via emails / phone as well as occasional in-person meetings
  • You will maintain safe working habits and conditions according to regulations and policies
Qualifications:

Who we are looking for

  • You are at least 18 years old
  • You are authorized to work in the United States for this company
  • You have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • You have 2 years of experience with Geographic Information Systems
  • You have experience with aerial and underground construction methods and engineering requirements
  • You have experience with cable placement and splicing methods and practices
  • You have effective communication skills
  • You are able to travel and work extended hours; overtime and weekends as needed
  • You have reliable transportation and a clean driving record
  • You may have familiarity in permitting requirements for state and local agencies
  • You may have a working understanding of the RUS (Rural Utility Service) units and their meaning process
