Aspire Public Schools is Hiring a Campus Operations Manager Near Huntington, CA

Position would support Aspire Ollin University Preparatory Academy and Aspire Pacific Academy. These two Aspire campuses are located at the same location.

JOB SUMMARY
The Campus Operations Manager manages the facility and custodians to ensure a clean school facility that is maintained to provide a safe, secure and comfortable environment conducive to student learning.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions
  • Hire, manage, evaluate, and develop and train all facilities staff at multiple school sites
  • Oversee execution of cleaning classrooms, rest rooms, hallways, multipurpose room, offices and all interior rooms to code standards, including day-to-day, deep cleaning, emergency cleanups, and set-ups/cleans during meal periods
  • Oversee routine grounds-keeping duties, including picking up litter, weeding, mowing the lawn
  • Oversee arrangement of furniture for assemblies, meetings and special events
  • Clean classrooms, rest rooms, hallways, multipurpose room, offices and all interior rooms to code standards, including day-to-day, deep cleaning, emergency cleanups, and set-ups/cleans during meal periods
  • Coordinate routine maintenance, including touch-up painting, replacing light bulbs, stucco repair, etc.
  • Identify and correct any major security or safety hazards and major repair needs; submit requests for deferred maintenance projects to Principal and Facilities Manager for capital improvements and tenant improvement projects
  • Vendor contract negotiation and management including janitorial, lunch service, construction and night cleaning contractors to ensure building and grounds are well-cleaned and maintained, and a regular schedule of major cleaning is kept (e.g. polishing floors, steam cleaning carpets, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain mealtime systems including set up, service and cleanup of lunch
  • Manage the HVAC Energy Management System, lighting, and door closure schedules
  • Manage facilities inventory and invoices; orders cleaning, building, and all other operational supplies for multiple school sites
  • Support Principal and/or Business Manager with development of a plan for continuous coverage relating to building usage, custodial, grounds, maintenance, safety, security, and emergencies; write safety incident reports and follows up as necessary
  • Perform and coordinate the usage of facilities by school personnel/groups and organizations within the community; set-ups, teardowns, clean-up, and staff scheduling
  • Support principal in working with public regulatory entities to ensure compliance. (e.g., Fire Department, CDE, Police Department, Inspectors)
  • Support Principal and Office Manager in budget management for facilities projects and maintenance
  • Works closely with other site staff, especially in support of Office/Business Managers and teachers
  • Leads school wide initiatives and projects as they relate to facilities management

  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Competencies:
  • Ability to manage, guide and support facility staff
  • Knowledge of safe and efficient use of cleaning materials, chemicals, tools and equipment
  • Ability to complete minor maintenance, e.g., replace light bulbs/filters up to mid-level maintenance, e.g., stucco repair, plaster wall repair
  • Ability to maintain complex records
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability and willingness to meet the physical requirements necessary to perform the required duties, including ability to lift, carry, push, pull and move heavy objects on a regular basis
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form, with both students and adults
  • Ability to interact appropriately with children of different ages in school setting respecting and understanding boundaries
  • Ability to travel 5%
  • Minimum educational level:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Experience required:
  • 5-7 years of increasing level of custodial/building management experience
  • Physical requirements:
  • Stand, walk or bend over, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, grasp, push, and pull. Move, lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds to shoulder height
  • Repetitive use of hands (i.e. fine manipulation, simple grasping, and power grasping)
  • Demonstrate normal depth perception
  • Sitting, walking or standing for extended periods of time
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, operate standard office equipment, and use a telephone
  • See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids
  • Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone with or without auditory aides
  1. Work authorization requirements:
  • Clear the Department of Justice background screening
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Provide health (TB) clearance (most update every four years)

  • Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments
  • Exposure to dust, oils, and cleaning chemicals
