**POSITION PURPOSE:**

Responsible for the development, implementation, and compliance monitoring of the fleet management program. Position is to ensure that Federal, state and local regulations are in compliance in accordance with specifications by program development, periodic audits to maintain Department of Transportation (DOT) and company fleet safety compliance. Develop, implement, and audit fleet safety programs along with assist with claims management and reporting, for the purpose of incident prevention and regulatory compliance.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:**

* Engages and collaborates with senior management, supervisors, and EH&S managers to ensure strategic safety improvement plans are appropriately established.

* Closely work with commercial motor vehicle operators in all areas of safety, compliance, and training.

* Develop, implement, and monitor fleet safety programs

* Develop, implement, and coordinate relative training for all levels of personnel related to fleet safety and computerized on-board systems..

* Responsible for implementing and auditing fleet safety and commercial motor vehicle standards.

**QUALIFICATIONS:**

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

* Bachelors degree is Safety or Related ES&H Field or related field

* Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience as a fleet safety manager

* Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to commercial motor vehicle compliance

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

* Knowledge of D.O.T., OSHA, Loss Prevention and Environmental Protection Agency and State regulations and requirements.

* Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications; Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

* Knowledge of tractor trailer equipment.

* Knowledge of Fleet Safety Management procedures.

* Understanding of required computer applications.

**EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:**

* Eight years progressive safety or Loss Prevention experience.

**SKILLS/ABILITIES:**

* Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

**Safety Considerations:**

The EH&S Manager typically works 12 hours per day, 6-7 days per week in extreme hot and cold environments after acclimatization. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including protective clothing and creams will be provided to minimize exposure. Employees are required to wear all required PPE on a daily basis. A valid drivers license and good driving record are essential if operating a motor vehicle. May be required to work on variable terrain in performance of duties. The EH&S Manager routinely lifts/carries up to 50 pounds unassisted.

* Work in all types of field environments where walking may be strenuous

* Use of field test equipment that requires manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination.

* Non-routine climbing

* Possible entry of confined and/or enclosed spaces where respiratory protective equipment is required

* Possible trench and/or excavation entry

* Possible long distance driving over extended periods

* Possible night work
