1-800-GOT-JUNK? is looking for a People and Culture Manager to lead our People Department and HR initiatives. The People and Culture Manager will play a critical role in leading and overseeing all HR functions and management team development programs that support the entire hourly employee journey; including high-volume talent acquisition, onboarding and job readiness, employee engagement, performance management, compensation, compliance, and team communications. 
People and Culture Manager (On-Site)

The ideal candidate is an experienced HR & People leader who can communicate and influence at all levels, from field team members to upper management. With an employee base of 25-45 people (depending on the time of year), this role must be strategic and hands-on, with a proven track record of building and maintaining a positive team culture in a similar-sized organization or larger. 
Must have a Happy to Help mindset.

Responsibilities include:
Hiring & Onboarding

  • Full-cycle recruitment; Source, Screen, In-Person Interviews, present candidates to the General Manager to extend job offers
  • Submit MVR searches and Background checks
  • Entry of New Hires into HRIS (BambooHR) and Payroll (BBSI) ensuring compliance
  • Monitor accountability reports (In-Training & Performance review due dates) within HRIS, take appropriate action on pending tasks and due dates.
  • Prepare and send out weekly work schedules with the business and its employees’ development best interests in mind
  • Prepare for and participate in orientation providing new employees with a positive introduction to the company
  • Prepare for and participate in morning announcements covering Engagement topics
  • Work with the General Manager and Operations team to ensure 2-week new hire training completion through the management of a Trainee dashboard
  • Assist the General Manager with progressive discipline performance feedback coaching opportunities

Culture Management

  • Participate and support organizational values in all behaviors and outputs; use influence for positive outcomes
  • Lead Quarterly Engagement Survey initiatives resulting in high employee participation. Work closely with the General Manager to analyze their outcomes, create and execute action plans as a team
  • Manage exit interview survey
  • Conduct 30-day new hire check-ins, and work with the General Manager to ensure scheduled performance review completion
  • Documentation of all employee notable interactions and situations within the company HRIS 
  • Leverage business understanding to identify issues, diagnose root causes, provide insights, offer recommendations, and develop proactive solutions to solve pressing business objectives through talent lenses, such as productivity, engagement, skill development, and retention & recognition

General Office Environment Management

  • Foster a positive and enjoyable work environment through ensuring office cleanliness, Snack Bar, Coffee Bar, TTM competitions, office snack options, TTM of the Month, and other engagement initiatives

Qualifications include:

  • BSc/BA in business, HR, social sciences, or a related field
  • 2-3 years of similar role experience, specifically creating a positive team culture
  • Ability to work a 7 am start time Monday-Friday
  • Experience in high-volume talent acquisition (general labor), employee development and retention
  • Knowledge of HR policies, processes, and best practices
  • Experience in labor relations and risk management
  • Ability to work and communicate with all levels of employees
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and hold managers accountable
  • Knowledge of North Carolina Employment Laws and standards
  • Knowledge of Worker’s Compensation
  • HRIS/ATS technology
