SERVE THE YOUTH OF D.C!
This position is a part of the Notre Dame - AmeriCorps program. NDA members strive to empower the economically disadvantaged through education and personal hands-on support. They offer small group and one-on-one instruction to children and adults (literacy, GED, and ESL), organize after-school enrichment activities, model and teach conflict resolution, and involve community professionals in the learning process.
Members commit to at least 1700 hours of service over 11 months (August 2024- June 2025).
Department Description: An Americorps Volunteer at The Washington School for Girls works as a member of a team of educators to carry out the mission of the Washington School for Girls. The teaching assistant will be responsible for supporting teachers in the classroom and the school as a whole. S/he will support teachers and the school body both during the regular school day and during all after-school programming.
Detailed Description of Duties and Responsibilities:

● Reflect and model WSG values and attitudes as a Catholic School in interactions with students, teachers, families, and members of the public.
● Follow the policies and procedures of WSG as described in the WSG
Personnel Handbook, including such items as being on time, professional dress, and maintaining appropriate records and reports.
● Demonstrate high standards of professionalism, including legal and professional ethics in interactions with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and members of the public.

● Ability to work with diverse populations;

● Data management tools, organizational tools, computer skills (google suite including docs, slides, spreadsheets, email)

Education Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent

Additional Requirements: NDA seeks to build community among our members, as well as the people with whom we serve. Members attend regular bi-weekly meetings as an NDA team, which focus on reflection, training, service projects, and professional development.
