JOB PURPOSEUnder routine supervision, oversees all aspects of technology infrastructure and system support to the district. Installs, troubleshoots and supports the District’s local and wide area networks, wireless networks, and telecommunication systems. Provides technical support and performs related professional and technical work as required. Stays current on emerging technology solutions and makes recommendations that will enhance and improve the District’s technology services. Reports to the Director of Technology.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSResearches and evaluates new and emerging technologies for potential benefit to District operations and programs; assists in identifying, procuring and implementing new systems and equipment.
Coordinates all aspects of assigned projects and takes responsibility for completing projects on-time, to a high standard and with user satisfaction.
Performs technical services related to computers, peripheral devices, district software, network servers, routers and switches, cabling, wireless, paging and phone systems. These services include, but are not limited to, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance and upgrades.
Recommends and implements upgrades to existing technology systems including research of technology solutions, obtaining information for purchasing, implementation of project and training.
Monitors projects and problems, balances assignments and priorities, and communicates and/or follow-up with school administrators as needed.
Serves as district technical administrator for instructional software applications, school media systems, and telecommunication systems.
Utilizes network utilities to create and restore hard drive images, remotely send out applications, registry changes,
updates and patches on workstations; monitor, diagnosis and repair server, network and software problems.
Provides support for the district’s network, infrastructure and technology systems to ensure minimal down time of services.
Supports individual departments with technical services to meet departmental operations and goals.
Supports and supervises needs related to implementation of 1:1 computing initiatives.
Completes administrative tasks related to user accounts management and user access security.
Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns and complaints in areas of responsibility and provides timely and professional user support and assistance.
Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, other district administrators and staff, school administrators and staff, various committees, vendors / service provides and teachers.
Follow through on requests for assistance to ensure closer and user satisfaction.
Attends training, seminars and conferences as necessary to maintain and enhance job knowledge and skills.
Perform duties effectively and accurately while maintaining schedules and deadlines. Works independently and focuses on tasks.
Works with district technical staff on various project and support as needed.
Moves technology equipment to various district locations and within technology department.
Lifts/moves/carries equipment weighing 50 pounds, climbs ladders, climbs stairs, bends to access and install items at floor level, and reaches to overhead to access and install items.
Performs technology support services through on-site visit, from remote locations and via telephone.
Requires frequent travel throughout the district and occasional out-of-town travel. Valid SC Driver’s License required.
Requires ability to work extended hours if necessary.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONSRequires a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information system management or related technical field supplemented by six to nine years of experience in network administration, or an equivalent combination of education, training, technical certification and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities. May be required to obtain specific system-related certifications as deemed necessary by supervisor. Must possess a valid SC driver’s license.
