**Accountant II - Steward Observatory** **Location** Main Campus Works directly with Finance and Research Team, faculty members, and support staff in the review and reporting on state, designated and sponsored awards and contracts. **Duties & Responsibilities**

* Assist with department review and set up process of all account types. Monitors balances, reviews budget and expenditures ensuring compliance with UA policies and procedures. Prepares close out of accounts. Assist with department internal cost accounting.

* Reviews and approves expenditure activity. Processes funding distributions, general error corrections, and other university transactions as assigned. Serves as account delegate and provides back up to fiscal officers. Works with department administrators to ensure compliance.

* Assists with project reviews with PI and program management. Provides supporting analysis and reports as requested. Meets regularly with assigned PIs.

* Assists with monitoring payroll expenditures. Prepares requests for position distributions and salary transfers. Works closely with Accounting and HR team to resolve issues.

* Acts as a resource for interpretation of University and Sponsor guidelines. Answers incoming questions and performs research as needed.

**Minimum Qualifications**

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.

* Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience required.

**Preferred Qualifications**

* Experience with UA systems, such as UAccess Financials, Research and Analytics
