Addison Group is Hiring a Medical Coder Near Richmond, VA

Dermatology Coder

  • Day to Day Expectations/Responsibilities:
  • Review documentation and code for E/M and minor office procedures
  • Assist with making these changes or adjustments to claims as needed
  • Large part will be E/m and a small part will be documentational coding
  • MOS/Gen. Dermatology coding experience
  • Most of everything is in office procedures
  • Modifiers – need to be able to make sure that they are correct, when to add them, etc.
  • Physicians do their own coding of their visits, coders come in behind to look at how it was coded, add modifiers, ask any questions to make sure the claims are clean when they go out.
  • They work any denials
  • If they have billing experience that is a huge plus but not a must have.
  • Posting payments and reconciling
  • Work with the front desk staff to make sure that insurance information is correct
  • Any experience with collections would be great
  • Certifications: CPC-A, CPC
  • Soft Skills—What will make a good team fit:
  • Someone that is willing to be trained
  • Someone that is looking for growth within their role
  • What they want to see on a resume:
  • Coding experience
  • Billing experience
  • Someone that does not hop around from one job to another
  • Important information for role:
  • Perm Pay rates: $25 - $35, depending on experience
  • Hours: 8-5 M-TH and 8-12 on Fridays. There can be wiggle room here.
  • Onsite/Remote: Prefer onsite but they are open to hybrid.
  • If hybrid schedule, they will have to come onsite for training (90 days typically)
  • System/s: e-clinical works
  • Metric standards— none put in place yet. They have a new manager starting that will be putting this in place
  • Training expectations— will be hands on training
  • IT Information—Client Equipment
  • Vaccines needed? Flu shot, exemptions accepted
