Posting Description

Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona (Habitat) is seeing a talented and experienced Senior Philanthropy Officer to join our dynamic Development team. Reporting to the Director of Individual and Major Gifts, the Senior Philanthropy Officer will play a critical role in cultivating relationships with major donors to secure significant philanthropic support for Habitat's mission and programs. This individual will be responsible for identifying, engaging, soliciting, and stewarding major donors to achieve fundraising goals and advance the organization's strategic objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

General Development Outreach & Management

Develop and implement strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors ($2,500 ), including individuals and family foundations.

Build and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, conducting research and analysis to identify new potential supporters.

Establish and maintain strong relationships with donors, effectively communicating Habitat's mission, programs, and impact to inspire philanthropic investment.

Collaborate closely with the Director of Individual and Major Gifts, Chief Development Officer, and other team members to align major gifts fundraising efforts with overall fundraising strategy and organizational priorities.

Create personalized cultivation and solicitation plans for major donors, ensuring meaningful engagement and donor-centric stewardship.

Prepare compelling proposals, presentations, and materials to effectively communicate funding opportunities and impact to donors.

Lead and support donor meetings, presentations, and events, both virtually and in-person as needed.

Utilize Habitat's donor database and other tools to track donor interactions, manage prospect pipelines, and report on fundraising progress.

Stay informed about developments in the affordable housing field and philanthropy best practices, continuously seeking opportunities to enhance major gifts fundraising strategies and tactics.

Represent Habitat professionally and ethically in all interactions with donors, partners, and stakeholders.

Perform other duties and functions as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport, inspire trust, and engage diverse stakeholders.

Strong strategic thinking and analytical abilities, with experience developing and executing fundraising plans and strategies.

Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.

Familiarity with fundraising principles, strategies, and best practices.

Collaborative team player with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.

Demonstrated success in planning for and completing projects on time, on budget and within scope.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.

Ability to give and receive detailed information through verbal communication in person, by telephone, and/or at community meetings; exchange ideas and convey detailed information accurately to staff, volunteers, and others.

Ability to function in a fast-paced, growing and changing organization; multi-task and strategize fundraising strategies for the team.

Positive personality, attitude, and professional demeanor.

Commitment to Habitat's mission and values, with a passion for making a difference in the affordable housing community.

Proficiency in using donor management databases and fundraising software.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 5 years' experience of proven non-profit fundraising, with a focus on major gifts solicitation and donor relations.

Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Nonprofit Management, Communications, Business) or relevant work experience preferred.

Proven track record of successfully securing and stewarding major gifts from individuals and foundations.

Working knowledge or CRM systems such as Raiser's Edge NXT preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THIS JOB:

Ability to sit at a desk or in a meeting for extended periods of time, often several hours.

Ability to work 40 hours/week, occasional Saturdays, Sundays and evenings.

Ability to stand or walk for most of the day.

Ability to lift packages or event supplies, sometimes up to 30 pounds.

Able to drive to meet with potential and/or current donors; will require a current Arizona driver's license, a clean driving record, automobile insurance (Arizona State minimum auto insurance coverage is required to receive mileage reimbursement) and a trustworthy vehicle.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS:

The majority of duties are performed in an office setting; however, there will be time away from the office when soliciting and/or meeting with potential and/or current major donors.

There may be periods of time spent on undeveloped or construction sites which may be of uneven terrain with exposure to dirt, dust, dampness, construction debris, extreme temperatures, construction noise, fumes, and odors from construction materials.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:

Employee must be proficient in or able to use or learn to use office equipment such as computer, printer, phone, copiers, calculator, and other methods of communication.
