PsiQuantum is on amission to build the world's first fault tolerant quantum computer capable of tackling today's most intractable computational challenges to deliver transformative results. We know that means it will need roughly 1 million qubits and will be building scale in size.

PsiQuantum is uniquely positioned to deliver on the promise of quantum computing. Our architecture is based on photonics which gives us the ability to produce our components using high-volume semiconductor manufacturing processes, the same processes that have been applied in telecommunications and data center applications for decades. Since photons don't feel heat, we can take advantage of existing cryogenic cooling systems, the kind that have been operating at facilities like Stanford Linear Accelerator (SLAC) since 2018. And because photons are basically light, they can move between subsystems using standard fiber connectivity, without the need for transduction in and out.

Our team is working across the full stack of quantum computing, from quantum architecture to photonic chip manufacturing, advanced opto-electronic packaging, hardware systems design, quantum algorithms and software tools, and cryogenic cooling. Job Summary:

PsiQuantum's Photonic Circuits team is at the forefront of pioneering advancements in quantum computing technology. This multidisciplinary team, consisting of physicists and engineers, plays a crucial role in the company's core mission by designing and validating the hardware that underpins our quantum computing machines. We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer who is passionate about enabling software infrastructure for hardware innovations. The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to significantly impact our processes, by creating software solutions tailored to our complex hardware challenges and data pipeline requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain robust software infrastructure and solutions to facilitate hardware design, validation, and data management processes.
• Enhance and support existing backend and frontend tools, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of our hardware teams.
• Conduct thorough testing and debugging to guarantee the functionality, performance, and reliability of software solutions.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, design, and implement new software features that align with hardware requirements.
• Write clear, efficient, and well-documented code, adhering to best practices and industry standards.

Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Git, Bash, JavaScript, and SQL, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality code.
• Extensive experience in both frontend and backend development, with a keen understanding of their interplay in hardware-related projects.
• Proficiency in AWS and cloud computing services, with hands-on experience in deploying and managing scalable solutions.
• Expertise in database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, along with familiarity with ORM frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and maintain APIs for seamless integration with other applications.
• Previous experience in developing software solutions for hardware applications is a significant plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience in hardware engineering coupled with a strong background in developing software solutions for hardware design and data management.
• Proven track record as a Full Stack Developer or in a similar role, showcasing versatility across frontend and backend technologies.
• Familiarity with frontend frameworks such as React, Vue, and/or Svelte, enriching your skill set and potential contributions to our projects.
