Job Description: PRN Phlebotomist - Hours Vary - Weekends - Call Performs the collection of blood and body specimens from hospital inpatients and outpatients. Transports patient specimens to the laboratory. Job Description: Performs venipuncture, fingerstick and heelstick Accurately collects specimens from the proper patient for the correct test Makes floor rounds to pick up specimens and delivers to laboratory Maintains stock for collection trays Performs point of care tests and reports results to appropriate personnel Has working knowledge of lab computer; prints out patient identification labels, verifies collection and receipt of specimens and results point of care tests Requirements: Completion of 12th grade (high school) or phlebotomy training program Must have good written and verbal skills; must frequently work under pressure. Must be able to follow instructions explicitly as not to compromise patient care. Exhibits calm behavior to patients and visitors. Ability to get along well with others. Must adhere to medical ethics and have concern for the welfare of the patient, laboratory and institution.
